What detailing spray / drying aid do folks recommend? I'm specifically interested in using it as part of the drying process (e.g. spraying it on the damp microfibre drying towel before wiping/patting the car dry after a wash).

In the past I've only used Meguiars Quik Detailer and Ultimate Finish Quik Detailer. Not sure whether to buy the Ultimate Finish stuff again or try something else.
Sonax BSD is highly recommended, but Bouncers 'Done & Dusted' is superb as a drying aid.

Only the machine left without accessories.

Can someone please post up what you would need to make this work as a polisher please? May be a cheap way into machine polishing.

that will rip the paint off your car in the wrong hands. stick with a duel action like the das 6

Does anyone just polish an wax a couple of panels at a time?

Just getting the car ready for the winter and just done the bonnet and roof tonight and will do the drivers side tomorrow evening lol.

Wish I had a garage or indoor space to clean my car. I'm sick to death of either doing it in the blistering sun or it starting to rain halfway through.

Yeah definitely. I dont have enough time so spend doing the whole lot all at once these days. I'll even end up spanning washing the car over several days if its been left a while. Interior, wheels, bodywork, etc. Lets me do each part properly rather than rushing it.

Washed, Iron-X, Clay Bars, Panel Wipe. Very fine polish. 2 layers of cQuartz, left to dry for 4 hours. CarPro Reload put on, topped with Hydro2.

would have gone further on the car polishing but the paint is very thin so couldnt get the paint completely flat, removing the rest of the orange peel unfortunately. Didnt want to take the laquer off

Didn't you only do something similar last week?

I get the pull to keep a new toy nice a shiney... but it IS possible to wash too frequently... you'll strip the top-coat and thin the paint if you're not careful, even with good chems...

Correct. I did do that last week. This is the "Car Cleaning Thread"... Not "What have you done with your car today" thread.

You can wash as many times as you like. If you want to be pedantic, the more you wash the more chance of putting swirls on the paint.

If you are going to try and prove a point. Atleast get the information correct. First you tell me how a car is boring because its 4WD and you 'talk' as though you drive everywhere sideways, and now you question me on something I posted that I did last week and was just sharing what I used and the results. I did not mention I did it today.

Knowing Japanese paint generally you'd probably only need a finishing pad & polish to get the swirls out. You've certainly got plenty of protection on there!

Not sure if you needed both Hydro2 / Reload in one go. I'd probably go with the former to start with and top up with reload after every couple of washes until you decide to decontaminate again.

Did you use Tardis (or similar) as well?

No I didn't. I like to keep it well protected so put Reload first then Hydro. Didn't see a need for tardis as paint was fairly immaculate and as it doesn't get used much it does hardly any miles in the rain, and bird poo/tree sap is cleaned almost immediately!

Looks mint Brocky, you just bought it, only 1 fill up on fuelly? I'm in to my detailing too, neighbours always take the mick as I'm always out there on my driveway. Nice idea with the gazeebo, I dont have anywhere indoors to do mine.

I haven't had time to update it, its a pain in the backside so will remove it. Had it pretty much since new. Haha can't beat a bit of washing and detailing. My neighbours probably think I'm crazy too washing my cars all the time and having different ones come and go each day :D!

Gazeebo is a great idea for someone who has no indoor space. I do have indoor space but was being used for other things during that week.

You use any Gtechnique or Cquartz products?

I've noticed a few light scratches on the glass from washing the car the other day. I use a microfibre wash mitt and assumed that most dirt wouldn't be on the mitt as I thought I had read it gets absorbed inside?

Can anyone recommend any shampoo etc that can be bought from the rain forest or equivalent. The turtle wax one I have at the moment doesn't seem to bubble much and can't get much of a lather.

I also want to know, whats the best way to wax the car? I think I've read persil will strip any old wax, and then you apply brand new wax? or is this a bad idea?

Also, any recommendations on alloy wheel cleaner that wont do any damage?

Thanks!

Terrible idea. Wash, clay, Polish, wax. Resin polish plus HD wax or a good sealant will do the trick.

Autoglym clean wheels is one of the best, but it is also strong stuff, so use with care (care for you and your wheels).

I really want the wheel woolies (brushes), but at that price Santa can get them :)
