A mix of Iron X/Dragonsbreath, AutoGlym Tar Remover and a claybar will shift more of less anything off your wheels. Here's a few pictures of case in point of the Mrs new fabia wheels I've been dong this week. They didn't need claying so just iron x, wash and tar remover was required (plus a little polish and the obvious wax at the end)

Never had a problem with WonderWheels

Thanks mate they look good, not heard of dragonsbreath before. Where can I buy it? The problem I have on my focus is keeping brake dust off, what's the best way around that?

Clean your Car have Dragons Breath. I got a litre from there last week, havent found a spray bottle that sprays it well yet as it's quite thick. Certainly does the job though.

Brake dust is unavoidable, some brake pads will produce more than others so you could try different brands.

Quick wash and wax today, would have liked to clay and polished it too but only have 4 hours of light by the time I started.

Used some G4 Resin Superwax, purely because I went to Halfords to get some car shampoo and they had 3 for 2 offer on so I needed 1 more thing as the freebie and that was the right price. I must say i am impress. It's not like Aqua Wax which is like you are putting on nothing, but much easier than a paste wax. Literally apply with applicator of your choice, leave for 10 mins, then it comes off to a shine really easily.

(parking police will probably kill me, but the whole car is inside the lines ! :p and I only pull in there to eurocar parts to return some wiper blades )

Quick wash yesterday, only had about an hour. Soaked with Autoglym snowfoam and pressure washed this off - certainly helps remove a good chunk of the grime. Then used my two new 20L buckets along with my wookie pad. These buckets are great, especially given how much water the wash mitt pulls out. I was very pleased to see the bottom of the rinse bucket full of grit at the end and the wash bucket squeaky clean. Then a good bit of Aqua wax along with a Kent extra large drying towel. Finally, RainX glass cleaner on all of the glass including the panoramic roof.

Will be a more thorough clean next weekend for the Sunday service.

A couple of weeks back, me and friends did the full works on our cars. I used HD Wax, they used Aqua Wax. I was fairly sure when we pressure washed a week later, you could see how much better HD Wax was. Is it worth topping up with Aqua Wax though, every couple of weeks or just leave it and HD Wax again in 4 or 5 months?

Oh, there is no doubt that HDwax is in a different league to Aqua wax as a base coat. As for topping up I don't know if there is any official comment or evidence to support its use, but I don't see it harming, especially if I am drying the car with a towel anyway.

How often do you wash your car? If its once a week then I'd be surprised if HD Wax lasts you more than 3 months.

Also depends on the wax, I'm not fully familiar with either of those waxes, however if either have cleaners in you can't really 'top up' with them as it will effectively remove a lot of the coating that is on the car when applying that one. If you use a 'plain' wax you can certainly top it up. That said for me with Collinite 456 on my daily that gets washed pretty much every week I only wax it once every few months - although I am fairly lazy with that car!

Edit - from reading the Autoglym description it seems to suggest you can apply it ontop of its self to keep it topped up without any removal of existing wax.

Car had its first wash yesterday.

Didn't feel it needed a clay or worth polishing by hand. Washed, irox then AG HDWax. Will get a DA polisher i think as cba to hand polish anymore. Its a odd color to try get looking nice.

In the ideal world, Aqua wax to top up every few weeks and then some kind of long lasting paste based wax every 6 months and Clay bar once a year...however it doesn't always work out that way, especially in the winter when it is sooooo cold.

I wash the car every one to two weeks, but as long as the shampoo is ph neutral the wax should last, but probably no more than 3 months. Easy enough to reapply. I generally use a rapid detailer to gently remove most contaminants and a clay bar once a year if needed (you can tell on white paint if it is needed!).

My mission this weekend is to tidy up the exhaust pipes, assuming I can find my polishing drill bits.

That's one clean looking car Ray!

Thanks !

One thing I have noticed on this car, not sure how common this is, is that the wheel arches underside are not metal, they are lined with plastic? Which is a plus as when I blasted some water under there all the dirt just came off so easily and of course it won't rust !
