Gave mine a quick clean:

Gave mine a full clean but can't be bothered to take some iPotato pictures.

Hadn't bothered since September so everything at the bottom half was grey. :p

Yesterday I washed the car, including spraying the wheels with something (Sonax I think), leaving them a few minutes then scrubbing and rinsing them.

Today I went to give the wheels a bit of a wipe and realised how much dirt was still on them :( I have some wheel sealant, but it says to use it weekly. I think I'd probably rather do it fully, take them off, clean and then seal with the type you leave for 24 hours, then they don't need doing for a year.

Any thoughts on that? Also, product suggestions?

I really like Brite Gel but it's fairly expensive. So I use that coupled with a bucket with shampoo and wheel woolies. Could probably rule out the brite gel but I feel it makes things easier.

My feeling is that I don't need to or want to use anything strong. Anything I wouldn't use on the paintwork I wouldn't use on the wheels. This is after a conversation with the guys who refurb my last set of alloys of my Yaris. They recommend just car shampoo, treat the wheels like you do as paintwork.

Any decent wheel cleaner solutions? I'm using car chem revolt at the moment which is ok but it doesn't go far and it absolutely sinks...

Are you looking for something to use regularly?

For regular use I'd go with something like Valet Pro Bilberry, Chemical Guys Diablo or my new favourite EZ Car Care Vipre (because it costs peanuts when on offer). They all dilute down well and don't break the bank. You'd be better off sealing your wheels with a wheel wax or sealant and then just washing with normal shampoo than regularly using wheel cleaner though:)

Had a right tackle with my wheels yesterday. I hadn't given them more than a hosepipe rinse since around November so they were disgusting, the brake dust was completely baked on (Not helped by the fact I drive the car hard most of the time).

It took 2 very liberal coats of Dragon's Breath and half a clay bar to clean them up, then finally treated them with 2 coats of Collinite 476s, looking like new again! (If you ignore the inner wheel, that's a job for proper summer)

Bodywork also got clayed and a full going over with tar remover before a quick mop using a Microfibre pad on my DA and Chemical Guys V36, then topped up with 476s and then Dodo Juice diamond while the next day to allow the 476s time to fully cure overnight. Not a bad shine for an 11yr old Silver Fiesta :p

Thanks for the heads up RE waxing the wheels, never thought that was a thing but I guess it's just paint. I have a tub of collinite wax, is that ok to use or does it have to be temperature resistant wax as mentioned above?

It should be OK but I wouldn't quite expect the lifespan you'd get on bodywork. For a wheel sealant ideally you want Gtechniq C5 but try the wax first :)

What products, pads and polish etc did you use with your DA?

Pad
Pad Lube
Polish
1st Wax Coat
2nd Wax Coat

Just to add, I used this clay and it's the best I've used, it's insanely sticky yet soft and very easy to work with unlike some harder ones I've had before.
