Clean AMG:

Nice!

Our new Superb 2.0 TSI is coming this week (it arrived at Grimsby docks last Thursday), so I decided to give the 'old' 64 reg Mazda 6 tourer a final goodbye detail today:

Foam soak
Rinse
Sonax Fallout Remover (especially the alloys)
Rinse
AG bodywork shampoo (pH neutral) 2 bucket wash with a lambswool mit
Rinse
Sonax BSD as a LSP to top up the Gyeon Wetcoat
Cheap CarPlan tyre shine & protect (meh it's trading in and it actually looks decent and non-greasy!)
Exterior trim restorer/protection
Thorough vacuum and cockpit clean / anti-bac
Halfords glass cleaner and rain repellent top-up

It's gonna be the best looking trade-in going. :D I couldn't bear to send her back filthy, it's been a great car. We need the extra space for baby number 3, so the Superb will fit the bill nicely (we had a mk2 five years ago). I'm really impressed by the Sonax BSD, which I tried for the first time today. I normally just use Gyeon Q2M WetCoat. BSD is really easy on/off and the beading is fantastic! I do still have a soft spot for Gyeon WetCoat though, especially as it does the whole car (including glass) with a spray on / jetwash off and the water just falls off afterwards.

I also bought 500ml of Gtechniq C2v3 this week (and... um... about £100 of other stuff, oops). The Superb will be getting a crystal base coat topped with C2 so it seemed sensible to top it up once a month, even diluted 1:2 as a QD/drying aid.

I've been reading around and apparently a 1:1:2 mix of BSD:C2v3:distilled water is godly. All the durability, smoothness and shine of C2 with the awesome beading of BSD. Has anyone tried similar in the past?

Apologies if it's been mentioned but can anyone suggest a cheap interior cleaner that has that nice vanilla type smell that most people hate? Or is that stuff the dash cleaner?

Basically I'm trying to find the smell the car had when i first got it. The place I bought it weren't sure because they change often.

Tried out my dragons breath cleaner this morning and it's pretty impressive stuff. Need to get my alloys re-done shortly as the previous keeper couldn't avoid kerbs. With my car being red the black tar spots are pretty visible, I've got some autoglym tar remover but it's not brilliant. Any other suggestions?

Bought some pads ready for a thorough clean of the car on Easter weekend.

No worries mate, just a heads up to any one who need some decent cleaning gear.

Appreciated :)

(it would be embarrassing if I were to take a photo of my cleaning stuff, I could literally open shop lol)

Gave the engine bay a quick wipe down.

Spent the afternoon getting the SVR looking shiny again. This colour gets dirty very quickly (we did have a trip to the Lakes in it too) but comes up really nice when it's polished.

There's some paint swirls and a bit of tar contamination, so I'm going to give it a proper clay and machine polish next weekend if the weather is ok.

Looks a bit gangster as I forgot to take it out of access height after washing!

I had a new RRS (just the 3.0 diesel) the other day and it's a great car, very impressive. I really don't like the touchscreen though, I much prefer iDrive or something similar.

I can only imagine what the SVR is like, for a car that size to be so savagely quick. Bet it's a laugh. Was a nice change to have a car you can just do anything you like with, approaching 75 grand for a nicely specced new one is a bit hard to contemplate though...

The SVR looks nigh on identical to the HSE I had inside, thought it might be spruced up a bit, not that there's anything wrong with it at all.

Great colour too.

Yeah, the infotainment system is pretty terrible really - it's worse than the one I had in my 2011 Sport.

The interior is pretty much the same apart from the seats:

Of course, excellent seats!

The infotainment system does the job, but it's surprising they haven't managed to design a better one yet.
