I need some more aggressive pads / polish that will work with Vag paint and a DA. The Skoda has some fairly bad looking marks on the rear bumper that I can see will definitely come out...but my (orange and white) hex logic pads and 105/205 do little more than give a nice shine at the moment.

If it comes to it i'll just use SRP or the likes to hide them but i'd rather try to fix as much as possible

Orange is pretty much the heaviest hex pad I would go to. Otherwise you would probably need to try microfibre pads etc.

Before that, try Menzerna FG400 with the orange pad for a decent hit!

I have the C110 and it's plenty powerful enough. However it's worth bearing in mind it doesn't come with the "Auto" car washing nozzle (around £15) which may be included with some of the higher models

I was looking at buying a Nilfisk from the Nilfisk outlet store, all factory reconditioned units, but in the end I bought the Nilfisk Titan from Argos as although it was a bit dearer it did came with a 3 year warranty.

I am highly unlikely to ever use a couple of the extras it came with but it did come with both the car attachment and the angled car attachment which is great for cleaning wheel arches and under the car.

Just looking at replacing the standard hose with a longer/better quality one when funds allow.

You will also want to get a better snowfoam lance.

Thanks all, will take a look considering the above :) May be moot however as just mentioned this to dad and he's been thinking about upgrading his one, so will give me his old Karcher K2. If that's up to scratch then may end up sticking with it.

So thanks to the people who replied to me a few weeks ago with suggestions.

First time cleaning my Z4 since I bought it a a month ago. Was a nice day today so decided why not! Went out for a hoon shortly after and got it filthy though :p

Ended up using Meguiar's ultimate wash and wax, Yetis fist wash mitt, G3 clay mitt and Collinite 845 wax.

Wheels were a gigantic pain... Brake dust just doesn't come off :p Next on my list is some Dragons breath and some wheel brushes.

Certainly makes a change having a car worth cleaning for an afternoon! My 2002 focus didn't get this sort of treatment.

Well worth it though :)

Invest in a stool to sit on too for cleaning those wheels. Your back will thank you afterwards.

Yeah, I had a DIY knee rest but that wasn't good enough. A stool or small chair is probably what is required.

Shame about the low res pics :p Yeah I need to stop complaining..

Sorry :p Took them using my phone and uploaded on the iPad. Didn't want to make them too big and fall foul of the mods...

I never seem to have an issue with wheels - brake dust always just wipes off with a sponge no problem?

Most of the dust did come off when wet, to be fair. There were a few spots that were stuck on well though, where vigorous scratching of my nails was needed to shift it.

My biggest problem was that my fingers couldn't fit in between the spokes when they narrowed at the wheel edges.

No need to worry about the anthracite inserts on diamond cut wheels about brake dust. Makes cleaning the "face" of the alloys much easier now :p

Same. Never use anything other than a sponge, a little soft brush for the little nooks, and soapy water. Wheels are literally spotless every time.

I do wash my wheels (and car) regularly though. I guess if you leave it months between wheel washes then you'll have a sod of a time removing all the grime but IMHO if you wash your car often (like I'm sure most people in this thread do), you shouldn't need anything other than whatever regular washing product you use for cleaning wheels.

It's moreso when wheels become pitted and old that they become tough to clean. The alloys on my MX5 look like they've seen two tours of 'Nam

What's the best rainx type glass product that I'm likely to be able to pick up at Halfords tomorrow? I'm looking for the water repelling qualities really.

Rain-X, the small bottle if you are doing a proper cleaning session.

But I prefer the larger bottle as it's a cleaner and repellent in one. Useful as something to use when you just pull over at the service station. Clean your windscreen with a bonus water repellent property.
