My favourite QD is Bouncers Done and Dusted and for wheel dressing I really like Meguairs Endurance Tyre gel.

Don't know if you can use it on plastics too, but I don't see why you couldn't.

Can anyone recommend a few things

1. FK1000p or you could go full sealant and get CarPro DLUX / Gtechniq C5.

2. Obsession Wax Nero is my favourite so far. I like the matte look rather than glossy.

3. What are you looking for? For pure looks I'd go with Obsession Wax Enhance. If you want protection then Sonax BSD.

Guys, I live on a new development which is still in the process of being built, and there's an enormous amount of dust. Have you got any recommendations, other than getting a cover for the car, on what I can do to help stop it getting absolutely covered? Or to make it really easy just to wipe off?

Using a sealant with anti-static properties instead of a wax will help but to be honest you're gonna have to cover or wash it more often.

Here's one http://www.seriousperformance.co.uk/Products,107,toView_401.html

Its a great product; reasonably strong cleaner, pH neutral, can be very sudsy, and helps to condition and protect the paint.

Get sonax BSD from ECP with code Holiday25, it takes it down to about £5 a bottle.

Got some of this stuff today for £5.24 :p Can't wait to try it out.. I think I'll apply some wax before though then use this in a subsequent wash to "top-up". Or just use it as a wax anyway :p

Was only 1 bottle left in stock as well.. mine

Yup ordered 2 bottles too as top-up...so much beading for such little effort!

beads after 2m10s

Not instock but will get delivered 5-7days.

Was just going to order some as £5.24 is too good to miss but I get to checkout and it's £9.45 to deliver to CI by DHL  Cheaper for me from Amazon at £10.95 -20% tax and free delivery.

Eurocarparts discount code Holiday25 for 25% off and 12% cashback through Quidco too.

Came up nicely for the first proper wash...planning on doing a full machine polish soon though as there are lots of swirl marks :(

I just bought an A3 BE in the same colour, with many many swirls. I'm hoping to get it sorted soon, I've been ordering lots of stuff this week in hope I can make a start over the weekend.

Although I've always paid good attention to washing my cars, I've never done any detailing.

I've ordered a DAS6 and going to use Poorboys SSR2.5 from recommendation of a friend, along with Poorboys Black hole and Dodo Juice Purple Haze. Hoping for some half decent results at least.

Right in preperation for saturdays clean

Im going to use the 3 for 2 at Halfrauds and buy a Farecla G3 Body Prep Clay Mitt

My products i have at the moment are

Turtle wax Glass Polish
Turtle wax Spray wax (wet and dry stuff)
Carplan triple shampoo
Rain x
Turtle wax colourmatch polish (this is terrible stuff and i want to replace it when i can)
Wonder Wheels cleaner
Lots of cloths, Pads etc etc
EDIT:
Pressure Washer also :)

Can anyone recommend me 2 more products to make best use of this offer?
Or even 5 more products if my products i have are deemed naff and others are worth getting in this offer

My car is a light silver and the paints in good condition just very dirty as i work on Industrial sites so a lot of fallout and unknown bits settle on it daily.

Anyone got any recommendations for cleaning in and around underneath the bonnet (engine area)?

Was going to get a good clean on today but unfortunately the weather has been pretty dire. Brand new to really fully cleaning cars, however I am a bit of a neat freak so I like to clean anyways.

Recently acquired a Mondeo so want to keep on top of it, it's my first "grown up" car at 29 :)

Reading back through this has given me good ideas of what cleaning products I should be looking out for, just wondered what you lot did underneath the bonnet

Borrow a steam cleaner or if you have a Mrs and she has one for bathroom/kitchen.. borrow it. Cover all electronic items, Plugs, Looms etc etc in plastic and insulation tape around it to keep it secure.. Steam clean the lot! Follow on by using bumper blackener on any black parts to restore it to a factory condition :) Did mine a year or so ago with this and i had no issues. Just be sure to find your ecu and don't steam clean near it.

This part is highly debatable. Especially as all cables will be wrapped anyway, and terminated in waterproof plugs/casings. Heck, even the fuse box is fully water tight. You have to remember that most cars these days dont have a floor pan beneath the engine - what do you think happens when it rains or you drive through a puddle? Does your elec system fry itself and refuse to start?

The only thing that might be worth covering, out of paranoia, would be the alternator and battery terminals. The rest of it? Nah, you can pressure wash everything else easily, a hose certainly wont do any damage either.

APC, MF cloth and a detailing brush will do 95% of the cleaning for you anyway.

Debateable i agree, I get mud under my bonnet.. (how the hell i dno) so water must have been involved somewhere but the covering is just a pure paranoia and better to be safe than working out whats dead situation..
