I wouldn't bother with the Kent stuff. Buy cheap, buy twice as the old saying goes.

When you think your wash mitt is key to trapping and removing dirt without scratching the paint, it's worth spending a few quid more on one that'll do the job and more importantly last.

And drying towels, well that's more subjective really as most work well from new.

I would recommend the below.

CleanYourCar Huge 'Fluffy' Drying Towel
Gtechniq WM2 or GYEON - Q2M Smoothie - (wash mitt)
Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo - 64oz (sudds more than rivals = less needed)
Farecla G3 Body Prep Clay Mitt (will make a big diff on never clayed car)

You don't really need grit guards if you fill your second bucket full with water and only rinse the mitt in the top 1/4 as the grit sits on the bottom anyway. And any cheapo Halfords bucket will do. : )

What's the view on using hot water to wash a car?

Thinking of rerouting my outside tap via the hot water pipe instead of the cold. Simple to do as it taps under my kitchen sink..

Been looking at snow foam, I have used a 1L bottle, not in one go! of Valet PRO pH Neutral Snow Foam, however its a little bit more than what I want to pay. Whats the opinions of Pro-Kleen Professional Cherry Snow Foam with Wax. Its the with Wax part that bothers me, as how does this effect the windows? Or am I over thinking? and its all fine.

Autoglym doesn't "sudd" as much, but it doesn't mean you use any more - 1 cap is plenty, and you can certainly tell it works as despite having less sudds, your wash mitt slides effortlessly over the paint.

Is this the same as above?

Because the one linked by Armageus says conditioner?

Yep that is the same one (it also says conditioner).

I liked the AG Shampoo and Conditioner and went through so much, I ended up buying a 25L bottle from the local rep around here.

So I decided I would tackle the haze / marring on the bonnet.

Used the DA with a meg red pad with G3, then again with G10 on a yellow pad and finished with meg ultimate compound.

It worked really well for the most part, although in a couple of areas there is an odd scratch pattern which was there before and I can't seem to remove.
Lots of tiny compact semi circle type markings on bits.

Can I just keep going over these two sections with G3 till gone?

Took 2 hours just to DA the bonnet, never going to find the time to do the rest of the car!

Might move up to bigger pads next time

I quickly moved from a DA to rotary, unless you are completely cack handed, you can achieve fantastic results much much quicker with a rotary.

Finally got round to sourcing and putting up another cupboard in the Kitchen - now have a dedicated shelf for my car products:

Suggestions for where to start with DA pads and compounds? Seen Hexlogic pads rated very highly, but there's so many compounds to choose from!

Depends what you're working on and what kind of finish you're trying to get.

If you're tackling swirls, Sonax Perfect Finish is easy to use and gives great results.

If you're doing deeper correction a multi-stage polish like Megs 105/205 might be preferred.

Can anyone recommend some good Cloths/Drying towels.

I have decent shampoos and waxes etc ready to go.

wonder what people use for -;

dash/interior cleaning? mainly tiny particles of dust and bits that need a brush(assuming detailing brush will do the job?)
inside of the windscreen?
