I'm not a fan of the Valet Pro one, used a litre of it and found that whilst it foams very very well indeed it is really rather poor at removing or breaking down any dirt. I like Bilt Hamber Auto Foam, and Krystal Kleen Detail Blizzard (which also smell epic). Weird as other Valet Pro products are great, like their citrus degreaser...

Looks good (what colour is that paint, its a gorgeous colour!), but a perfect illustration of one of the biggest issues with black wheels... Even with freshly cleaned and dressed tires the wheels still make them look brown - a horrid look. Rays are still lovely though, regardless of colour. Louvres are different too, didnt know they existed on the Toybarus. Look a bit too 'wannabe mustang' imo, though.

Paint colour is Subaru 61k grey. It goes on wet as a dark blue, but dries to grey. Under normal lighting it's quite an understated colour, and doesn't stand out at all. Very much in line with the 'stealth' look I wanted. Under strong sunlight however it totally comes to life due to the heavy flake. Looks like a completely different car.

I know what you mean regarding the black Rays, again it comes down to the sunlight and the camera. Under normal conditions they don't look brown - again it's only under strong sunlight that you get that look. Glossed tyres don't help either, I think I might be better off with a satin finish.

Louvres are quite rare for the 86. You can get rear decks relatively easily (factory aftermarket item) but they're super expensive. Quarterlight louvres are like hens teeth though since you can't buy them in the UK and the import cost is prohibitive. I bought them when on holiday in the US and brought them back in my hand luggage. They're very marmite - people either love or hate them. Also whilst popular with muscle cars, have a look at 70's JDM like the 240Z's etc and the original '86. Plenty of precedence imho.

I have noticed that since having my 86 wheels refurbished in shadow chrome, that I havent actually bothered with tyre gel. I used to do it with every wash as you're right, dirty tyres stood out against dark wheels. Now they're a lighter colour, dirty tyres dont bother me as much.

Anyone got any recommendations for an inexpensive snowfoam cleaner? Preferably something other than white as I have a white car and it would be tricky to see coverage.

Got mine from Amazon 2x 5l for £15 or so a while back, but I use the below and seems ok to me. Not used any other brands though, so dont have frame of reference. Goes on nice and thick and removes dirt, so I'm happy :)
