Klin Korea Duo.

Not related to the above, and I know Auto Finesse stuff is hit and miss, but their “Complete Protection Kit” is on sale in Halfords for 25 quid at present, so I thought I’d see what it’s like, as haven’t used any of their stuff before.

Comes with:
Shampoo
Clay Bar
Clay Lube
Polish
Wax
Couple of applicators and MF cloths

25 quid is probably the cost of the CB on its own, so if the rest of it’s crap, I’m not too fussed.
I also noticed this, just popped up to get one. Never used the majority of the type of products.

Not particularly concerned with mine of my wifes car appearance, but if it does help protect it , make it shine a little more etc - great :)

To remove backed on bird poo i use Meguiar's bug and tar remover, spray on leave it for 2-5minutes and then it will just wipe off, living by the seaside you need this.
I use the dirt off stuff you can buy from supermarkst. Demon car plan stuff?

Works just as well and cheap enough

Hi All,

A little help with getting rid of what I believe to be tar (black dots on the car). I've tried Obliterate, but this stuff just won't budge - I've tried multiple applications.

Is it just a case of keep going at it? I don't want to use anything more aggressive the a cloth, but I'm tempted!

Any insight / tips appreciated :)

Thanks

Clay bar is probably the next step.

I was using WD40 for a while, but picked up some Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover for cheap, does a good job!

Just had an order from Slim's turn up - very impressed with the quick delivery.

Ordered:
BH Korrosol
Carpro Tar X
Scholl S3 Gold XXL Compound
AG EGP
GTechniq Panel Wipe

Gonna have a go at a full decon; clay, compound, polish, etc. this weekend - have got an old panel from the scrappy to test on first. I've told the missus to not expect to see me on Sunday. :D

Is it me or is car paint pathetically soft these days cars only done 35k and the bumper and bonnet are almost more touchup than original paint.
Swirls so easy as well no matter how careful I wash it.

I headed down to Halfords to pick up the Auto Finesse kit mentioned earlier in this thread for a gift and unfortunately the only one in stock had leaked a couple of caps of shampoo all over the box but they offered to knock off £10 so happy days!
  • Lather - PH neutral, wax and sealant friendly shampoo
  • Clay Bar - removes dirt and contaminants, achieving that smooth glass finish
  • Glide - lubricates your paintwork to allow your clay bar to slide across your paint surface with ease
  • Tripple - the polish that reveals a glossy wet-look shine
  • Radiance - liquid Carnauba Wax with easy application offering up to 3 months protection
  • Microfibre cloths x 2
  • Applicator pads x 2
All for £15

My dad spent the afternoon claying, polishing and waxing his car but soon after we had a sudden downpour but since it's his birthday I went out the minute it had stopped raining to dry the car off for him!

Edit: Thanks to ChuckleVision for the heads up.

Nice one, that's a good price for all that! I had a go with the clay bar on my bonnet last week - it definitely makes a difference. Looking to spend the BH monday on doing the rest of the car - followed by a full compound and polish.

Machine polishing, what pads and compounds do people recommend for soft paint?
I’d start with a green pad, be that hex logic or lake country, and something like Scholl S20.

If that doesn’t work, can always go more aggressive with an orange pad or a compound with more cut. That’s how I’d tackle it.

What car will you be working on? If you can get a test panel from your local scrappy that’s of the same make, that’d definitely help you gauge how soft the paint is.

its an S2000 in red, i know my red civic was extremely soft so I really want to err on the side of caution.

Spent all weekend giving my car a full deep clean.

This was the process I used

1. Covered with TFR and left for five mins
2. Rinsed, washed, rinsed, washed
3. Claybar (autobrite clay with water, love this clay)
4. Machine polished (compound with red pad) 4 passes
5. Machine polished (polish with yellow pad) 2 passes
6. Machine polished (wax with black pad) 2 passes
7. Cleaned windows and any areas I'd caught with polish using Megs glass cleaner

Looks amazing. There was a few areas on the roof with light swirls which have completely gone. Close up it looks absolutely perfect.
