Wonder if someone can help me out?.....

I have a Karcher k750mx pressure washer and want to buy a Foam Lancer for it. Problem is I dont know which adaptor I will need. Do I want the standard Karcher adaptor or the HDS/Pro adaptor?

Google isnt being my friend today :(

Looks like you will need the standard adapter, the HDS/Pro one is for the big industrial type washers.

I have a Karcher k620m and this is the adapter I got with my lance

Thought I may as well bung this in this thread:

I've owned an Earlex wet and dry cleaner for years and it's always performed well - but what I really always wanted was a proper Vax that washes as it goes, rather than a unit for just sucking up dirty water.

I missed the deals on the Vax 020 (?) last year and after considering a 6131 I found the Vax Essentials VEW001 for sale on Robert Dyas.

The first unit arrived damaged - the clamps that hold it together had broken off. Robert Dyas customer service dept. were very polite and efficient and exchanged the unit, no quibbles.

So today I tried it out.

Here's what you get for your money:

Large "dirty" tank - the "clean" tank is that removable white bottle

The Manta has mid-grey Recaro seats that tend to look yellow with age - similar to tobacco staining you normally get on headlining in a smoker's car. The carpet was also pretty grubby so this was the first test of the Vax.

The idea is to fill up the removable white reservoir with water (I used cold - can't see why you couldn't use it hot though) and a capful of Vax carpet cleaner. I suppose you could substitute this with APC, TFR or whatever else you fancy trying.

Then you fire it up, and hit the green button to start the water

Vax05.jpg

The water is piped out of the reservoir to the head, the head does the scrubbing and the waste is sucked back down into the dirty reservoir.

A point to note - this machine has a relatively small clean water tank - 4 litres does not last as long as you may first think! I used 1.5 tankfulls to do the carpet and seat on one "corner" of the car.

Once I had fully washed my chosen areas, I went over it again with the water supply turned off to suck out any excess water. Leaves it slightly damp but far from wet.

So here are the before and after shots:

Carpet before:

Carpet after (ignore the rust stains on the carpet mat, not got round to those yet!)

In the pictures it doesn't look very impressive at all. In real life, the difference it is far more noticable, but on this colour seat it isn't exactly night and day. I think on a cream carpet you'd really reap the rewards.

The real proof, where you realise just how much dirt has been removed, comes when you empty the dirty tank:

Nice:

Conclusion? Well worth the £55 purchase price, especially if you have carpets and carpeted stairs in the house (which an upright cannot handle)

I can see that a lot of you here know how to make your cars nice and shiny but i have a small question for you experience folks...

So today in my car i had some cereal i had it resting on the passenger seat and then i forgot it was their for a split moment and then bam the milk goes all over the seat how do i get this stuff out?
Should i get it steam cleaned by the europeans or is their some special stuff i can buy? worried it will stink tomorrow or if it will leave a stain that won't come out...

muchas gracias

Oh man milk in carpets is the worst thing ever. That **** will stink forever if you don't act fast.

I did the same thing and tried millions of things to rid of the stench. I tried almost everything.

Everyone on the net said you have no chance of getting ride BUT REJOICE i am your saviour.

Go to your pet shop and get some spray that's used to get rid of dog pee stains and smell! They have realy good enzyme killers.

It worked a treat for me

I hate cleaning cars.

The Teg looked lovely but had no time to take pictures in the beautiful weather on Saturday.

After a trip to peterborough and the snow it looks like it's been off road. Argh!

Use the spray every night and after a weeks spraying it should go

Ok, decided to drop a little bit of cash and treat my car to some TLC.

She's just been in for a service and had a lot of money spent on her, this included a new Milltek Sports exhaust (pics to appear in clio 182 thread this weekend), so I am motivated to give her a proper clean and keep her in good shape - a belated new years resolution if you will! :p

At the moment I just do a simple hand wash with some generic car shampoo, scrub the wheels with some tesco wheel cleaner, and finish her off with a quick shammy :)

Some of you guys will be pulling your hair out reading that and I am too! Starting to get a few swirls on the paint and the wheel cleaner doesnt seem to be doing my alloys any good......

So for my new routine I plan to start with a pre-wash. For this I have specced a Foam Lance to go on my pressure washer, and the foam of choice will be Valet Pro - PH Neutral Snow Foam . From what I have read this seems to be a killer combo, but as i'm new to this i'm open to suggestions/tweaks :)

Next up will be the main shampoo and the planned weapon of choice here is Dodo Juice - Born to be mild shampoo . The 182 is black and the Born to be Mild seems to get good reviews, is suited to dark colours and doesnt cost the earth. I'll get 250ml's to start with and see how I get on.....

I will finish off by treating the alloys to some Valet Pro - Bilberry Wheel Cleaner

I would like to get some clay and wax for that uber clean car look, but that'll have to hold off a month as the cars already cost me a grand this month :(

I picked up a 'Detailing' kit from Tesco for £5, included 6 MF clothes, a MF sponge, Wheel Brush, and some Wax applicator pads. Pretty good bargain, and the quality doesnt seem too bad.

Basically, what do you guys think? One thing I havent listed, but would like, is some window cleaner. No idea whats hot and whats not in this area so suggestions are welcome :)

Cheers! :p

Big post about carpet washer

Slightly off topic : Lopez, would this be ok for cleaning a living room carpet too do you reckon?

I've just had a kitchen fitted and the guy doing it has spent the last fortnight walking through my cream living room carpet with his boots on so it needs a good clean. I was just going to get a proper carpet cleaner guy to come and do it but if this would do the job and double up for my car too then I'll just buy one of these instead.

Not quite the same, but we've got a Vax carpet washer that does exactly the same thing however its got a massive waste collector. With something of that size you would probably end up emptying 4-5 times on a normal sized lounge carpet.

Eidolon - yeah it should, it comes with a normal hoover style attachment (+ vax squirrty bit) but you'll probably need to empty/refill it a few times on a big carpet.

Consider the big orange 6131 for a bit more dosh, as I think that can be used as a dry hoover too and it has a bigger tank

You can get Vax upright carpet washers pretty cheap on Ebay but no use for the car!

Bilt Hamber Soft Autoclay does not need detailing spray (works with water) and you get loads, 200g I think. I'll be trying it out this weekend.
