The Chip Act USA and the potential unforseen consequences.

I agree, the world stood on its head with the removal of credit controls and import allowances. But globalisation is a good thing everyone was told. It will enrich everybody. So far it has not. The people making stuff in the third world are no richer than when they were farming paddy fields, they have more money but also more debt.
Consumerism does need to slow and a hiatus in supply probably helps that along.

Yes it has, you just don't see it as in the UK we are already in the top. China 40-50 years ago was vastly different as to what it is now, same goes for a multitude of others, the bigger picture is we are moving forward but slowly.

More evidence of the effects of the Chip act:

Again the export of technology to China has some understandable reasoning, but it is also going to affect production of many other innocent use products which many readers here will either own or plan to own in the near future, and are not going to be able to buy. I expect we might see power supplies particularly badly affected by this as far as I'm aware they are nearly all made in China.

Microchips are the new "oil" chaps. This is what you are seeing happen. US plans to be the "chip Saudi Arabia" to secure their future.

Saudi really screwed up by planning an economy around tourism and low tax versus something actually productive.

Clear as day, this is why Intel has presence in Israel (versus the anti Semitic reasons some folk come up with) so that Middle East chip fab presence is in a controlled territory.

I've recently been looking at new cars and it seems that their production as slowed down a lot because of a lack of chips to fit in them.

That might be the plan, but there is a big difference between control of resources and control of knowledge.

Ah, you're thinking emotionally not logically. The balance of power has shifted too far in one direction. We need a war to rebalance and cast off afresh.
When Nuclear weapons are a possibility logic obviously isn’t coming into the equation. War is bad m’kay.

Tbf Nuclear weapons are the only reason why we haven't continued the cycle of epic war after epic war. It is probably the sole root cause of over population, the demand for globalisation, consumerism etc...

Honestly I bought 2kg of crinkle cut oven and the quality was pretty good, even for store 0wn brand.
