I didnt but I think my brother had one of the originals, and got it direct from the Raleigh factory in Nottingham :)

Think of a world with no mountain bike and no droppy racer.

Put the chopper into that world and think in a 70's mindset.

They were vastly popular :)

AND YOU COULD STICK FLAGS ON THE BACK :D :p

Ooo David James has a special silver chopper!

Cant really see that many kids today wanting them (although you never know) but I bet people who grew up in the 70's will want one for a bit of nostalgia.

Had both a Grifter and a Chopper although the latter was my fav. That new 'Chopper' looks totally carp though. I'd remember we'd attach lollipop wooden sticks to the wheel spokes and make clicky sounds as we tore down the streets rar! :D

We kinda did that, but with a crushed coke can stuck against the back tyre, between the forks. Made it sound just like a motorbike. To us :o

Bunch of arse they were too. Do you mean those Spokey Dokey things? The things that as soon as you went faster than 0.00002 m/s stopped making any noise at all. I had about 20 frosties reflectors on each wheel once. Shame I didn't have any lights.

Aye. The ones that shifted about on the spokes and clacked because they moved from the middle to the outer edge yet as soon as you peddled more than 2 feet they were all at the outer edge anyway.

I had reflectors too. I restricted myself to 2 on each wheel though and then went back to eating Wheet-O's :p

Ahh, I remember being proud of my....gear lever. Then the new 'in' thing was the poxy Grifter iirc it had them too, so I pestered my dad in getting me one. Grifters were well built and looked great, always preferred choppers though :)

I think I might have had a grifter and my older brother (I was a child of the 80's and my bro was a child of the 70's) had a chopper. Can't really remember the difference between the 2 tbh :o
