I think some people have misinterpreted my use of the word "special"
Yes its a decent chip but its not particularly "special" that it beats the AMD lineup.
The simple fact is it should beat AMD's chips by a very significant margin as its a next gen chip. The significant thing is that INTEL have seen fit to get off their big corporate behinds and do something about AMD's dominance of the Gaming market. For us this is good news as consumers as long as AMD have a decent response planned for healthy competition in the future.

£100? What did you buy\sell for if you don't mind me asking? I've been toying with the idea of getting a conroe but I'm trying to wait until 2nd gen dx10 cards are about before upgrading...

The mobo is the biggest burn by far, and also i paid a bit more for my connie so i could have it before release

Same as me, sold my old gear to fund an upgrade to Conroe. Hasn't cost me that much really.

Im thinking of doing the same thing, only thing thats holding me back is the lack of decent mobo's. Im waiting for something special from DFI.

not touching the first batch of anything. core duo laptops are all busted in that you attach a usb device to them and they stay in max cpu speed mode and will not speed step so they end up killing the battery.

That was later modified if you reread the anandtech article/subsequent anandtech/dailytech articles to a) say it actually affects ALL laptops old intel, core intel and also AMD - its an M$ USB driver issue and b) that M$ have now issued a fix.
