The Crew....PS4

I feel embarrassed I liked it now lol.

Its a huge game and there's always stuff to do, that's what appealed to me. Also I got used to how it handled and it was fine.

If you take it for what it is, an arcade racer, then it can be a laugh with others. I played the pc beta and got to the level cap (10).

 As said already I liked TDU, I'm hoping for a new version of that..I think i'll prob like "The Crew" too

I played the Xbone beta this morning and it's really bad, the graphics are terrible, no better than a 360 and there was one point at the start of the second race where it was panning into the city and it honestly looked like something from a PS2!

The handling is terrible and often feels like your input has no relevance, I was actually fed up by the first race when a police truck that had gone onto its roof still managed to have control and ram into me... shocking.
I would say the graphics are a very good looking last gen game, I wouldn't say they were terrbile or PS2, perhaps it's an X1 thing?

So playing further, just done the raid takedown mission, enjoyed it as it was a nice change from a street race. Also just noticed the settings to let me have full control over the vehicles with no assists, they feel better.

I hate to say it but I am enjoying it, it's different, it's not perfect, far from it, but I do like it.

Not many games get the driving physics right, usually big racing games fail, Driveclub looks nice from what I have seen, but playing it is a different thing and will find out how it holds up next week. A few games come to mind with driving physics that got it right:

GTA V
Burnout Paradise
Need for Speed Most Wanted

Watch Dogs had woeful driving physics, most games which involve driving always feel heavy and hard to turn and never feel like you are putting your foot down.

I am still awaiting my beta code for The Crew, and will give it a go, but from what I have read on here, it doesn't seem to hold up.

Not got the beta.

Is it like a burnout type game?

Also how big is the world, how long for instance does it take to drive to different areas?

cheers
It looks like the whole of the USA is driveable (looking at the map). I have just set a waypoint from detroit to the east coast and that has it at 101km. It's obviously not true to life but still, a 101km drive in a game is impressive? I reckon I could go to the east of the country and have to drive atleast 150 ish km. My next mission is 20km away, I'll time it.

Anybody know how long it takes to get from one side of america to the other? The speculation about this game was all about how open and big it was, a depiction of USA, so I am expecting at least 30mins max to drive from one side of the map to the other.

It just took me 8 minutes to drive 20 game km's. That was flat balls out all the way. If it's 160km from east to west coast, that's 1 hour and 4 minutes at top speed.

From my current location seattle station is 95km and miami is 55km, that's 150km and not quite to the coast.

edit: How does sharing work then? I can take screenshot/video and drive it. Or being a closed beta, probably not...

Man those first few corners of Donington at full pelt were so good in Toca - those days when all you had to race to enjoy driving games were great

ps3ud0

What a game that was. Always remember going 2 player and driving the opposite way and trying to crash into each other at full speed, split screen gaming at its best haha
