The Crew

I don't know if it's just me, but the cars feel like they're rear wheel steering. Utterly horrible to drive, I think I need to adjust a setting somewhere but I'm not sure where.

Playing with a 360 pad.

Yes the cars certainly seem tail happy but maybe it depends on which one you're driving? Challenger for example is RWD so with another car it might be different?

Managed to get on the game this morning before work and spent about ten minutes on it, hardly enough to form an opinion. I was looking forward to getting home this evening and getting to try the game out properly, I've spent the best part of an hour trying to get in to the game and it just won't have it. I assume it's high server load or something, but I typically have to wait a few minutes after "Pressing Any Button to Start" before the game does anything, and then an undetermined amount of time staring at a mostly blank screen after pressing "Start" on the menu before (if I'm lucky) the game just quits to desktop with no errors, otherwise it sits there doing absolutely nothing.

Always been a fan of Test Drive Unlimited (1) so this is a game I was keen to try, but I think I'll be waiting until after November to play it at this rate.

Does it just say Unable to start, Please check its installed correctly blah blah blah?

Are you running Avast by any chance? If so, add the Entire "The Crew" directory into your exceptions, Verify your files and set Uplay to run as administrator in that order, then restart your PC

Should work after that.

Nope.

Got it working in the end but it didn't like me changing video settings sigh.

Game is terrible, uninstalled and won't be wasting my money on it

tried to love this so much but from what I've played .. just over an hour its a poorly executed if somewhat pretty need for speed ripoff.

maybe worth a tenner but not a AAA title that I was hoping for

I turned my graphics settings down and it seems to be better - strange as the game was running smooth previously.

Just played a bit more, I want to like it so much but I'm finding it so poor. I think I'll be waiting for this to pop up in a sale :(

The 30FPS limit will be 60FPS at release according to the ubi forums, just 30 for the beta as its not fully optimized for 60fps, although you can change it to 60 in the config file C:\Users\<user>\Documents\The Crew\PCScalability.xml changing above 60 does nothing.

In the controls menu there is a driver aid setting, all, sport, hardcore, try one of those and see if it improves the cars feeling for you - apart from that it has potential, they have a few months to sort it out and if they do its will be good.

Key below if you want to try it, post back who got it.

Glad they finally changed their minds on the 30FPS issue, but that doesnt change the woeful physics. I did try various settings with the driver aids, but all they did is make the car spin less going over jumps compared to my normal setting of turning everything off. You can add as many driver aids as you like, but they wont fix such a basic physics model

did the config edit and changed the FPS to 120.... dunno if its actually done anything xD need an FPS counter (usually use the battlefield built in jobby).

also read about HDBO (or what ever) causing some weird effects, changed to SSAO and noticed not much difference at all.

biggest one was changing the CPU priority of the .exe to high. tried above normal but still got the occasional freeze/soundloop. but managed to play for over an hour on high without a single hiccup (minus going really fast and it had a little fit when trying to load something)

dunno who the driver is but it's impossible for him to keep his hands still.... which is really distraction (cockpit view) :p

I've played an hour or two of the Beta. Runs quite smoothly on a GTX 770. The storyline is a bit weird. I'd quite like there to be more choice of cars from the start (only one Jap car and the rest muscle?). The car customization is good but not Forza good. I expected a bit more from a game about 'crews' and with 'Fast and Furious style' cut scenes every 10 seconds (that you have to watch again if you fail a mission). The driving is weird too.

It just boils down to wanting Forza 5 on PC :(

lol yep! I had an email stating I was in their beta queue. mate was given 3 keys to give away so I grabbed one. one day later, my key came in an email :p

so far done some missions, heading to chicago. already done a drive to vegas and back :D to be fair, even with it's blurred (I have all blurring settings off) it looked amazing coming over the hill and down into the desert and seeing the vegas lights at night :D gotta get sweetFX!!! :D

The online aspect of this game is so laggy, whenever im playing it traffic are lagging all over the place, people in my crew keep disappearing and reappearing, it's also laggy for said people in my crew, also for some strange reason whenever i play this game i get kicked off of teamspeak a lot.
