The Cryptolambo had gone to the moon... Time for Cryptolambo 2!!!

I have it ready to install but its been so flipping cold and wet havent gotten around to it.
Translated.....

I'm lazy da-ba-dee da-boodaye :p

Get it done, tomorrow may be the day it pays for itself and then some!

I procrastinated in the same way, then my 2 week old M135i got skewered at a roundabout by a blind woman. Luckily she admitted it and all was sorted.

It seems that both @Gibbo and I are in at the same time :D

Him for his gearbox, and me for my wing mirror.

Unfortunately when they removed the wing mirror to re-do the paint protection there was some corrosion found working its way under the door paintwork.

It has been removed and treated, due to yellow being an absolute pig of a color to match, we decided to go for a full panel blend out. Got sent a quick piccy tonight:

A camera will usually really show up color match issues on yellow paint, so from this it appears they have got it absolutely spot on to the rear quarter and roof.

Where did you get the paintwork done? Looks like a great match!

At Litchfields :) Their head of the bodyshop is an extremely experienced painter. Very skilled at his craft and ive seen some of the repair work hes done, absolutely impeccable.

What are the doors made of?

As the 'mericans would say.

I did think that, pretty interesting that it's gone. Although once it starts Alu goes quickly.

Fortunately because the wing mirror came off to be PPSed we caught it early so the work needed was minor. Going to have them remove the other wingmirror also and check there, if its anything like the GTR was then its a corrosion point that will potentially be happening on both sides.

Apparently the mustang front bonnet is renowned for it, stone chips on the leading edge and awaaaaaay it goes.
Spoiler attachment points might be worth checking depending on how it's mounted.
Not necessarily for yourself btw!

I'm sure I read that one of the M3 cars had aluminium wingmirrors, and it was quite common for the paint to flake off. Think it might have been the large coefficient of expansion that caused the paint to crack, aluminium is also much more difficult to get paint to adhere to.

So update, the lacquer has now had a few weeks to dry out and has had some polishing done to make sure its all looking fantastic.

Its now prepped and about to have the paint protection re-applied.

While in, also had some other bits done.

  • Had all 4 wheels completely stripped back to metal and re-painted as they were starting to look a bit tatty.
  • Front bumper paint protection removed and will be re-applied as it has done its job and was also looking tatty.
  • Had the frunk lid paint protection peeled and re-applied as above, it had taken a number of stone chips.
  • Investigated to see if there was somewhere that water could work its way into the interior as under extreme cornering water would drip onto passengers feet sometimes. Turns out its air con condensate.

My Ferrari did the exact same thing regarding spraying freezing cold water on passenger feet.
Your AC drain pipe is blocked or partially blocked, give it a gentle blow with an airline and stand back, when we did this on mine the car literally threw up!
The drain pipes exit the front under tray and as such get exposed to road dirt and grime, this over time blocks them meaning the water has nowhere to go except your passengers feet, blow in the pipe with an airline and it should unblock and throw all the nasty stuff out over their workshop floor. :D

So apparently they wernt happy with the way I accelerated the car.

Then proceeded to try and throw everything they could at me. Nothing would stick and they know it.

It was a year ago today I got pulled for doing nothing wrong. Made me laugh considering how much it ended up costing them in time and money to try and make a point because they were frankly jealous.

Id do it all again too :D

So car back from litchos today.

They sorted a bunch of stuff cosmetically as previously listed. And to polish it off they saved the badge which was getting some lacquer peel.

Will obviously give it a clean and a very close inspection when we get some sunshine, but so far everything looks absolutely spot on.
