The Cryptolambo had gone to the moon... Time for Cryptolambo 2!!!

So not much updates this year! As shocking as it sounds, the car has mostly been super reliable and no issues to report.

However a few weeks back the brakes starting squealing quite a bit, followed shortly by the pad wear warning appearing. After verifying the sensor loop had actually been worn through sent off some emails for pricing.

Needless to say the prices I got back from Lambo nearly had me falling off my chair...

Front pads £1650
Rear pads £1700
Park brake pads £1300

A quick search found a set made by Pagid that fit the Aventador, this is their RSC1 compound which I had previously on the GTR so know it has immense stopping power. A quick shop around and some haggling, managed to secure both sets of fronts and rears for £1000 all in.

Obligatory pictures.

While on the ramp, a good opportunity to check joints and bushings for play or signs of wear. Fortunately all good there.

The old pads, you can see the pins which start to make a lot of noise when they start to wear.

While there, also had the brake fluid replaced (once again with SRF) and the AC recharged.

Total cost... still cheaper than lambo for any of the pad options

After bedding them in, the same expected RSC1 characteristics showed through.

From cold, a bit scary, but with even a bit of temperature in them (as in, pull off and do one hard brake from 30 just to warm them), the stopping power is really amazing and predictable, a clear upgrade over stock. Not to mention the stock pads would struggle with even a spirited country road drive, I know from experience these will just keep eating up the miles without issue.

Additionally, its a very disc-friendly pad, so no worries about eating up the ceramics, which would be a nasty bill.

There has been an annoying rattle from the drivers side door for a while.

After taking it apart there were numerous lose items or things that could be at fault. Wrapped them in sticky back felt and also used some sound deadening material.

Think all except 1 is now sorted, and am 99% sure that last one is coming from the inside of the wing mirror. Hopefully can work out how to disassemble it.

The good news is there were only 4 bolts left over after re-assembly!

I remember back in the 1990's I had a new Alfa 156 2L Twinspark company car. Red, cloverleaf wheels, big wing on the back, I'd arrived! About 4 weeks after delivery, I decided to take it to Ireland for a week break, travelling around the emerald isles and my families home country. After 1 week on Irish roads, which aren't what they are today, the car rattled like a 200k mile Vauxhall taxi! It was never right, EVERYTHING rattled after the roads of Ireland shook it to bits and it was never the same.

Alfa charm for you! :D

So today the car went to a new home. With a early morning and company from @Gibbo we dropped it off to a new owner who is going to look after the car better than his child.

Sent me a picture of her all tucked up in the garage with carpets for the tyres hehe.

What a ownership experience though. To have owned my actual dream car, 3 years in a v12 lambo doing ~6k miles a year. All the new friends, the charity drives, the experiences. I really am going to miss this one.
