No chance of people thinking that in here. The demo had a "press start to continue" popup on the screen which actually means the game is worse than anything else on the Earth.
This basically, if developers focused on DirectX 9 and managed to squeeze every little bit out of it, a lot of games would look stunning without the reduction in performance which has been experienced in DirectX 10 and so far 11 as well.

So I went out got a new xbox controller came back and managed to get past that screen. It was a close call.

I should add that DX10 on Crysis was in fact identical in every way to DX9 - just that Crytek very sneakily disabled some features in the config and pretended they were DX10 exclusive. You could manually enable object motion blur, color grading, parallax occlusion mapping and such on DX9 by going to the config file and turning them on.
In fact, not only did DX10 look the same, it ran even worse.
The whole DX drama is totally overblown, especially now the majority of these special features are enabled by default on DX9. Even global illumination and per-object motion blur made the grade and completely without error.
DX10/11 wouldn't add anything except maybe tesselation. And I would be shocked, absolutely shocked if we ever saw the DX11 patch. It's a waste of time and Crytek knows it.

i tried the demo from steam on this the otherday and was mighty pished orf when i checked and could not find any servers to play on. anyone experience this or was i just incredibly unlucky?
What's so controversial about this score? Nice overreaction there. Aren't you the same guy who flipped out massively when I dared to suggest Crysis 2 demo looked really nice. Nowadays all you seem to do is troll Crysis 2 threads.
Pretty sure all the demo servers were turned off last week.

The single player looks entertaining and that is all i really care about (not a big multiplayer gamer).
I might just wait till it comes down a bit in price as i have enough games to finish at the moment.
Hopefully will be able to play it through in all its DX11 glory by then as well.

This is not the crysis 2 appreciation thread, members can state their opinion, you love it that's fine you seem like a fanboy with quotes like below, don't expect others to fall in line when their is glaring issues with this release.
The demo is _amazing_. It looks far far better than the original Crysis and somehow still runs at 60fps for the majority of the time!
My pre-order is staying firmly in place.
