As indeed I did at lunchtime, to enquire about these cards. Quick question that I forgot to ask when I was on the phone. I've seen mentioned of 2 versions of the card, one being quicker than the other, is this true and if so what version is the BFG card you have???

Oh that's a shame ;o)

Once my bank account has been fed I'll be having one of those then...along with a power supply so I can use it!!!

Should be at least a little bit of a leap from my current Geforce FX5200 card... :o)

Well aren't OcUK cheeky! I phoned to enquire.. and got teased!

Was told that it was too early to give accurate price, and no certain date either, just "around 7-14 days".

The salesman was called Scott, I bet he enjoyed hearing me suffer on the other end of the phone :D

Gibbo mate its not looking good is it?

What happened to the days we preordered things and clocked them like madmans? :D

I still remember you Rambus rig man.you kept that iirc....thats what the story is now for me too...(investing my money on motors too:D )

I mean....3.4prescott D0 socket 478...mach 2 gt cooled...ic7max3 and a sapphire 9800pro flashed to XT...

What should i do?hardly play any games nowadays...i'd say 2 hours per week maximum...and thats when a new racing sim comes out.Grab a better graphics card now or in a few weeks while i still can?Grab a second hand agp card in a few months time so that this rig is still good to last for 2 more years or keep the raddy and leave the rig as it is..then upgrade from scratch in 2 years or something? :(

Between £220 and £250, some maybe as low as £200.

I don't think its worth going from my current 128Mb 6800GT to it for a few frames here and there, think I'll just wait for AM2.

It would be quite a bit faster than your Asus 6800, certainly more than a few frames here and there. If your running at 1280x1024 it would be a good upgrade, but if your running games at 1024, then keep your 6800.

Hi
On the above mentioned thread at Hardforum,an employee of a electronics retailer in the US claims that the BFG card is clocked at 400/1250 on the box and that he is running the card at 475/1350 with no issues. He also states that his 3dmark 06 score is 3302 using the new 83.40 beta drivers that support the 7800 gs.
I have'nt run 3d 06 yet my score for 05 is 5662,but I would guess around 2250
sys specs are:-

Intel 875 PBZ motherboard
Intel 3.4 Prescott (cooled with Thermalrite XP90+92mm Ystech fan)
Enermax 600w Noisetaker PSU
Enermax CS-527 Case
1 x 120mm Ystech fan (front intake)
1 x 80mm fan (side intake)
2 x 80mm Ystech fan (exhaust)
Bfg 6800 Ultra OC (Agp Aperture on mthrbrd set to 256mb)
2GB Hyperx 400DDR (4 x 512mb dual config)
2 x WD raptor 74GB (raid 0 striped)
Creative X-FI Fatality FPS
Creative G500 PRO Gamer speakers
LG DVD ROM
LG CDRW
Saitek Eclipse Illuminated keyboard
Saitek 3D USB Platinum joystick
Razer Copperhead 2000dpi mouse
Philips 109-P4 19" CRT monitor

If those clocks are genuinely achieveable would it be worth me upgrading,or is this a taster card with a gt/gtx variant appearing in a month or so.Surely if this card is using the G70 then it will be more effecient/faster than the 6800's NV40 especially with AA/AF/HDR turned on.

Since I cant afford to update my entire PC to a PCI-E system at the moment, is it worth going from an 256MB X800XT PE to a 256MB 7800 GS ?

Otherwise I'll have to upgrade the lot waaayyyy down the line in 2+ years

Uhm, it actually costs just as much, if not less, to get a PCI-E motherboard and a 7800 GT.

if it is fixed then thats reason enough for me to upgrade. also my second pc got an upgrade from a xp2000 to a xp3200 and its still with the ti4200 so it makes sense for me to get a new card and give my old 6800nu to the second pc.

Yep there are quite a few of us with shuttles and high end athlon xp's who have no need to ditch a whole pc to get a new graphics card. This 7800GS will do nicely thankyou :)

hmm if these are really about £220 i might just ebay the x800xt pe iv just got, it was fairly cheap since i got it from the US and i could probably sell it for about the same as what i bought it for, maybes £5 or £10 less, i do play a fair amount of games and im a bit disappointed with how much sm3 seems to be taking off now as it leaves me unsupported.. does anyone have any more accurate approximations of price + release date? as ill have to get my x800xt pe on ebay :D :)
