The Darksiders 2 Thread

Just unlocked on steam. :D Night sorted.

And I dislike it before it's even begun. Menu is terrible, started at 720p, to change to 1200 I had to restart the game. Also subscribes to the Saints Row 3 school of DLC. Already a season pass for sale.

Agreed. I find the menus are still pretty pixelated at 1080, especially the inventory. Not a massive deal for me, but still.

Enjoying the gameplay though :)
 
Gameplay is superb, some of the puzzles are surprisingly annoying too. If only it had been given the Sleeping Dogs treatment for settings :(

Another issue is that I can't quick travel from inside a tomb, the game won't load of the word overlay and the inventory menu takes ages to load.
 
had never heard of the game or played the first one, bought it and downloaded it last night while I wait for Guild Wars 2 and its suprisingly good!

No graphics settings, but to be fair its all comic book/cartoony art style, so I cant see what else you could change.

Really reminds me of Zelda, that had a lovechild with Prince of Persia, which tunred out evil!
 
I crumbled and bought this to keep me going till GW2 on Saturday and it is amazingly good already. I think to get the best experience from the game you need to be crashed on the sofa with a wireless 360 pad playing the game on your TV, however the game play is superb! :)

Are you using a controller? If so, despite what it tells you, pressing A does not switch to the overworld map, clicking the left stick does. Now you can fast travel from inside dungeons.
 
In many ways yes, think dungeons scattered around an overworld, upgrades/abilities that allow you to access areas that were once inaccessible, chests, dungeon maps, that kind of stuff. It also has a very good combat system which was already quite flexible in the first Darksiders but even more so in the sequel.
 
I like to think of it like a cross of Zelda and devil may cry.

Enjoying it so far, much like the first.
 
Yeah DMC, GoW, that kind of game. I recall God of War 3 feeling very rigid after having played the first Darksiders, which was not something I was expecting being a massive GoW fan to that point.

I'd say give it a chance before you come to a conclusion on that. At first I longed for the desolate earth setting of the first (and the Hamil!).

Second really traverses a lot of ground though, the loot system is well handled, so much more to see and do and the big plus is Apocalyptic difficulty which tailed in difficulty in the first remains hard as you get through the game this time.

Also not sure if people know about this yet but FXAA injector really boosted the image quality for myself and some others. Its the same as the one Skyrim had at release - just bung it in your root folder and toggle with pause/break.

I found it really cleared up my images and takes off the blur! Very noticeable boost to me.

Just downloaded it....looks a lot crisper.....allthough I dont get what you mean by toggle by pressing pause?
 
i just purchased this game and this it is fantastic i love the first one and i love this one to the area is massive game play is fluent and the new features are great i think it is a lot better since you are able to customize death i hope the devs work on a third one for in the future this is one game i could play again and again
 
This is a BAD port!

The graphics are awful, the camera needs work it gets in the way, it's a juddery/stuttery game, there are no graphical options apart from Vsync and Resolution.

The music is lovely and the gameplay is rather fun, but it needs a good patching up!
 
neil79 juddery defo not stuttery defo not graphics ok for a port could be better camera ok game is great at least it last longer than some of the games out these days
