The disappearance of Nicola Bulley

Out of all the possibilities the most likely scenario is she fell in. The 16yo boy who fell in the same place and day of the year, was found in the sea 2 months later.

The media only report what is popular, we seem to have a morbid fascination for attractive, intelligent, middle class women.

I am personally not ruling this out.

There's not always rhyme or reason why one story gets media traction and its not a conspiracy that others don't.

But tbh, the details of this story (the short timeframe of disappearance, the phone on a bench, the dog etc) make it more intriguing than someone going missing while out solo hiking.
Someone disappears while out solo hiking in the wilderness, there's not a lot of mystery to it....they've come a cropper, slip, fall, rockfall, heart attack, exposure...happens semi-regularly.

Someone disappearing completely while on a phone call in a very short time window in a small village.....it's pretty odd.

Sadly I think this will be one of those cases which we all forget about until in 10 years a body is found and we all go "ahhh, that's what happened to that poor lady". I hope I'm wrong. My gut feeling is that she hasn't fallen into the river and someone she knows has killed or kidnapped her. But obviously that's as wild a guess as any of us can make.

He must be a poster on here.

If it wasn't for the freezing river I'd agree with you.

I find it hard to believe shes out at sea. If you look at the map of the river its got lots of very sharp turns. If she was drifting out then she'd be hitting the sides often.

Now the police say there is a pathway not covered by a CCTV camera and its possible someone could have kidnapped her.

If she's sat on the bench minding her own business and a guy walks up to her with a big knife then there isn't going to be a struggle. She'd walk out with him.

A lot of dog walkers and joggers get approached.

I think the police are looking for information about a red van circling the area.

Dis86 will be here shortly to give you a lesson on fluid dynamics.

In all seriousness though, while the surface on the river can be relativly calm, the under current could be shifting at a fairly hefty pace. So if a body does sink as said by the "expert" it would likely be carried by the under current even while the surface water is barely moving at all.

I think until you have been caught in a current its impossible to understand how even a tiny amount of depth can present tremendous drag if there is water flow.

Years ago I was in ankle deep water and the resistance felt like a really strong person was pulling at my ankles.
It was in the maldives, I had walked along a sandbank as it was so shallow and suddenly stepped into what was a massive current crossing this sandbank.
It took me ages to slowly wiggle my feet back enough to get out of it. Was quite amazing how strong it was and yet the surface looked completely smooth and serene.

I don't think it will be ten years but maybe a couple of months. Reading up on the lad who went 1 mile further up stream he was found two months later. He was thrown from a bike into Barton Brook. He was found on a sand bank near the shard bridge which is still in the river and not in the sea. He also went missing at a time when the streams were in flood. Not like they are now. This was also in the late 70's I am sure we are better equipped for these things now.

The problem is that when you get close to the sea it becomes tidal. That area is well known by the locals for it's dangerous waters.

Having said that, it still does seem unlikely that she has gone that far - if she fell in.

But then, I can't really believe she is a prime target for abduction. Young girl without dog is a prime target. She is small, though.

I dunno, this may well remain a mystery.

No reason aliens would leave the dog. They could either study or eat the poor thing.

You can rule them out.

This looks like it was planned - either by her or someone else.

The SGI dive expert findings confirm the water theory can be excluded.
