The Division 2 - March 2019

I have been playing a bit now, the 1 thing i find a bit weird compared to the div 1 is the animations of the character, it's like he is crouch down legs apart all the time and they run like they have **** themselves

@MissChief you actually found Washington on hard, actually hard with 4 people on discord? I don't think the problem was the game if I am honest man, I did it with MM on hard and it was fine - no wipes, but a lot of deaths.

I do agree the status effects are way over the top however, but I don't think your experience of that mission is necesdsarily requiring change on the dev side.....

EDIT: I think if people find this beta difficult they should keep it as is, they ruined td1 by going too much on the casual side where boss runs would net the best gear eventually..
I kind of agree Gam, but it was very frustrating. Perhaps at launch it'll be easier as we'll be able to do it at level 8 or 9 with more blue gear. The crazy taser ladies are, well, crazy OP though. Worse than the LMB Shotgun rushers IMO! At least they didn't have a status effect you couldn't get away from.

Had a nightmare getting the game to load. Kept getting a render error message: "Render initialization error. Setting up the renderer failed. You might be a trying the run the game on unsupported hardware or may need to reinstall drivers". Probably tried everything - updating amd drivers to the latest version (latest stable version & then the new beta), verifying game files, redownloading the game and nothing. Game wouldn't start & the same error message.

Finally worked it out. The game comes with a windows update file (Windows6.1-KB2670838-x64.msu), default location: Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Tom Clancy's The Division 2 - Private Beta\Tools\WindowsKB The game tries to install that update when you start the game but it can't do that if, for whatever reason, windows updates aren't enabled.

Anyway, after all that, the game loaded & i played for a few hours. Initial thoughts, i like division 1 and i'm going to like division 2 (definite buy for me), but from what i've seen so far, which isn't very much, Washington in the summer doesn't have that 'magic' of New York at Christmas - i really like that setting. What else? my aim with a controller needs practice & i still haven't found (or shot) 'Alex' in this new chapter :)

Few things i didn't much like - the 'shimmering' on screen when entering your inventory & the way your character keeps moving around from side to side when in your inventory. Enemies can get stuck in position when attacking you & it's not always easy to tell the difference between friends (green) and enemies (red). Also, as others have mentioned, the almost constant 'agent requesting backup' audio is annoying.

ps, Is there a way to increase the size of the text font in the lower left hand corner of the window? (the text which appears when you pick up stuff). You can increase the size of the font for other areas of the screen but i couldn't find a way to increase the size of that font.

Actually, with my current spec (i7 920, r9 280, 6gb ram, ssd) - i plan to upgrade - was surprised that i managed to get the game working but it seemed fine on medium settings @1080. A few disconnects, which others have also had, but the game ran smoothly. I didn't notice any/much lag.

Shameless plug, if anyone wants to add carrot1401 on uplay and send me a friend invite for the beta it would be greatly appreciated!

I'd take a code on PC or PS4, just wanna try it!

Played last night for a good 2 and a half hours without any issues at all, No crashes, disconnects or glitches so all in all a good evening!!

Game plays lovely, gameplay is just like division 1, a few differences here and there but nothing to make it that much different, people saying it plays vastly different to division 1 are just trying to fool themselves :p Liking the setting too, still not a patch on new york in the snow but it is really good in its own way, think I am legend.
It depends how you played Division 1. For me it is very different as I played without using my gun as a skill build and skills play very differently now. Not sure they are as good or as fun to use. There is also something missing in the story and atmosphere we found it not as good as Division1, still good mind you just not up to the level of Division 1 so far.

Put about 4 hours in last night would've been shorter but with the Delta 3 server errors booting us out in missions it took bit longer, Impressed for the most part. Everything feels smoother than D1 and the new UI whilst not perfect isn't as bad as other AAA games that get a PC release lately.

6 of us played last night and every single one of us had the fps grinds to a halt after a hour or so and needed a game relog to fix.

It looks well but going into bright sun almost tropical conditions from the snow that the first one did so well is taking some getting used to.

So many Delta-03.

Even so, I keep playing. I'm enjoying the Div2 Beta so far at least and it feels considerably more polished than other Beta tests I've tried. In fact, I have just had 1 Delta-03 take me out of a mission I was doing, then I logged back in and within seconds of the safe zone appearing I got another Delta-03. I'm going to keep trying because I'm enjoying it.

Just got my first Mike-01. I feel like an achievement hunter :D

I had a brief go last night and so far it's looking pretty good!

Very different feel from the first one but the first thing that struck me was why does my gun sound like a popcorn maker??

still good mind you just not up to the level of Division 1 so far.

I think TD1 will stand out as a special game in years to come, I don't think TD2 comes close if I'm honest. Still be a decent enough game though, it's more of an Endgame/Grouping up thing for me though as that I think is where TD shined especially well :)

PS The movement still does my nut in a bit!! Should just stick ice skates on 'em and have done with it. Do not get me started on that awful 'fall' animation.

You are on crack to think anthem is a reskin of destiny 2, especially the game as it is now. Anthem was a **** show, buggy mess on launch and they need to look at the td2 beta to get an understanding of how to handle it.

TD2 has a lot of bugs, people got disconnected but least they didn't ddos themselves haha

Its just an opinion, just an opinion. Ive seen others also liken it to destiny 2 style of play.
Its certainly something i cancelled my pre order for and will never be picking up, Division 2 is far better IMO.

There is a few titles out over the next couple of months that will IMO be better.

I must admit this comparing anthem to destiny is strange coming from someone that has played hours of both.

Anyways back on topic.

Has anyone else been in the darkzone and come out thinking meh ?

It feels like they have gone 360 from the div1. div1 came out with a small amount of PVE content but was focused on PVP. This time round it seems we are going to get a load of PVE content but they have just bolted on the darkzone to keep the PVP players happy this time round.

Best way i can describe it... When playing in the darkzone in Div1 it would be intense (including the DZ in the div1 beta) i would always be watching out for other players, planning escape routes and hovering my finger over T when they were near by. Playing the darkzone last night felt like i was just in a PVE area where i would see the odd player instanced with me.

That's how i felt in the DZ last night but there were some strange things going on as a few on discord will know about :D

Oh does anyone know if there will be a DZ currency this time round ?

Agreed. It's actually why you cant crouch in this game. It's to stop them both from T bagging us :D
Tactical crouching over an opponents dead body is an essential part of any shooter.

I thought i had missed the binding the first time I tried to crouch down over some poor helpless behind cover.
