Publishers*

People seem to confuse the 2 entities and I'm not sure why. Game devs, in general, do it because they have a passion for it - it's not (usually) about money - it's about the game. Publishers are the ones who are profit driven and set the deadlines for games (usually too early) and lay out DLC plans etc.

Don't have to play it, those gameplay clips say it all.

Oh well, guess you've saved yourself the trouble of trying it and making up your own mind.

Interesting that the community, reddit etc is split neatly into two groups....those complaining and criticising, and those that have played the game. Read into that what you will.

is the BETA an open BETA?

You can just register for the wait list without buying a key/pre-ordering. It doesn't guarantee access, I suspect it's a case of allowing all those with keys in first, then adding the wait list if the back end is handling the numbers OK. Pure speculation though.

Numbers? I want to see guts and gore and limbs flying out of the enemy, not numbers!

but you could see numbers in the 2013 E3 reveal gameplay. Also note enemies weren't bullet sponges even when someone said "they must be an elite yeh yeh yeh" :p

Same mechanics can be applied just as well.

Probably but that's not what the developer/ designer/ publisher wants. Either accept it or move on but there's no point crying that someone made a game you didn't want. Seems to me that pretty much everyone that is complaining about this game only because it's not a game they wanted it to be.

Personally I'm not sure whether I like it or not. I will probably pick it up when on sale later on.

When first they showed the game, it was different than now. With every clip after that, my enthusiasm about it went down a notch. Instead of progressing, adding content and features, like Star Citizen does, all these so called AAA games, keep getting worse.

It's ok, each to its own. All that I was trying to point out is that you can do such a game, the system they're using now isn't the only one. In the presentation clip the enemies died quicker, you had food and water and so on. I now just saw how the snow reacted to the player when he went over the hood of a police car. All that "wow, I wanna play it!", next gen feeling/mood went away. I saw Joe's clip, that dude Frags as well and it's all very... average at best, compared to that 1st clip. :(

Anyway, I'll wait and see later on, probably I'll pick it up down the road at a sale or something.

Still looks like a decent game, xbone preview gameplay with Angry Joe

Just watched the AJ video, this video showed us a lot more than the other videos, was a good watch actually. One thing is for sure, it's just not going to look that bad on PC, especially with SweetFX/Reshade etc. That blurry mess will be the first thing that goes, with extra sharpening and better colours, I reckon the modding community will be able to work wonders with it.

I like the look of it, but I'm a sucker for RPG's, it's my fav game genre. A few things that worry me though, AJ looked rather unimpressed, his reaction says a lot. A few silly bugs like the shooting from above whilst he was in cover, how lol, come on that's basic stuff. And also the unlimited ammo in pistol, come on really, I hate that. No stealth takedowns seems like a big omission to me. I'm also worried for an RPG that seems to have very little character unlocks, I sure hope there are more than 4 in each tree, that's hardly RPGesque. I like the concept and the idea, I'm still intrigued to see how more polished the PC version will be. Time will tell I guess, when is the BETA again? end of this morning?

I just don't want to shoot a guy with five magazines of ammo into a dude before he dies. I like my guns to feel deadly. I hate seeing damage numbers, keep that hidden from me please!

If you want to play a twitchy shooter with a low TTK, this is not the game for you. This is a level-based RPG and plays as such. Good weapons vs crap enemies = quick TTK, crap weapons vs good enemies = high TTK. All about the stats (and crits).

yup and double yup. i mentioned that early in the thread that we should see how certain variables affect the TTK or "bullet sponging" effect.

Like I said you can't see stuff like this (See skill tree image below) from a Gameplay video which vastly will improve people's understanding how the game mechanics work.

Also has harry gone awol, he used to reply to every single post and update the OP. :O

I'm reasonably interested still. The idea of an RPG with guns is of more interest to me than the usual fantasy settings. It's not COD, where would the challenge be in one/two shotting enemies?
