*** The Division Thread 2.0 ***

it is, unless you don't own the season pass. UG in the other PTS was an accident lol

ah right makes sense..

but then if you want to play survival you need a season pass anyway. unless you buy each addon separately which isnt really cost effective.

It all seems a bit of a mess...."quick everyone is leaving the game , give them some free stuff " lol

people arent getting anything for free.

Survival was always planned DLC. season pass owners get to test it early in the 1.5 PTS. other people can play the 1.5 PTS but they dont get survival.. when 1.5 is released, season pass owners will Survival in the regular game. everybody else will need to buy the DLC or the pass.

not at all.

1.3 was free but the accompanying underground was paid DLC, 1.4 was a massive system fixing/balancing patch, 1.5 will be free but again survival will be paid DLC.

the PTS is just a test system for them to gain feedback before rolling new fixes/content.

Tbh they should open up the DLC for free on PTS only, to help balance it and also to get people to buy it if they like it.

But mainly to test it, if you rely on Season Pass only customers to login and test it you might end up disappointed.

Not sure I am a fan of Survival in truth. Played it a couple of times and sucked though, so probably me being rubbish but will give it another crack. I am liking the new gear score and farming for it is great on my 4 Chars.

I've not read up on the DLC but I'm assuming it adds side missions in tandem to the main story or at least provides additional districts for exploration?

From what I've read, it doesn't seem to expand on the story at all. I get the feeling they are saving that for the sequel.

Basically you crash land in new York - somewhere in the light zone. You have nothing but green gear and a pistol - no skills, no medkits, barely enough clothese to keep you warm in the blizzard going on outside.

You need to try and get out and the only way to get out is from the darkzone but to get there you need to battle the cold, sickness, hunger, thirst, fatigue as well as NPC's or other players if you chose PVP.

Everything requires crafting so you loot stuff on the way - craft medkits, craft your darkzone flare and mask to survive contaminated zones, weapons, vanity items to keep you warm etc including your skills like pulse/heal/station.

Once you get to the darkzone you have an objective - find and extract the antitoxin (or whatever its called) but when you go to extract you wont be alone and you will need to fight!

Extraction time is 3 minutes and lurking in the shadows are the hunters!! They appear sporting the division emblems of all the agents that have been unfortunate enough to cross their path. They are the real rogue agents, and can use skills, can move fast and always come in pairs (per group member)

It is a case of kill or be killed and hope you clear the landing zone before the chopper arrives as the pilots will leave if they see the hunters are not being cleared.

It is truly the ultimate darkzone and survival experience so far and is tough as hell lol The main choice so far is trying to walk the thin line between crafting too long for stronger gear and then running out of time.... ie: life or going to the DZ too early and getting clapped by the hunters.

I not a fan of all that survival stuff, but Div made me love it :D
I did quite a bit of it yesterday,in fact all day since PTS release and can say now that solo is way easier than in group. And much faster.I had no problems doing it solo. And some stupid dead agents, who decided that they blue weapons is ok to kill Hunters at extraction, were very generous in giving me they loot,i didnt even need to look for it :D
Oh,and the Hunters are nasty ;)

I've had one go so far at survival and it was fun nail biting stuff but not something I expect to spend a lot of time playing.

From what I can see so far it's certainly not worth doing as an alternative gear grinding exercise as the rewards vs time taken aren't great but treated as a game in itself it's fun and a different way to experience the Division game world.

Yeah exactly, its the time spent vs reward argument again but its damn well done so far!

The loot is nice even if you don't extract though - 3/4 caches with about 9 items overall. Very nice

I need to watch a Vid of someone doing it properly me thinks. I suck big time lol :D

when I first logged in I went straight down solo and died to an NPC. I was running around lost and wasn't sure what to do.

Then I grouped up and tried again so I now have a good understanding of what to do.

Will be streaming it later solo for a run - I will prob die to a hunter if I get there but still. :) All fun

I did solo now like 4 times (with extr),so i can give idea of what im doing.

As soon as you appear in SF craft something from cold,it will help you a lot.
Next - weapon,if you dont get drop-craft,even green will do better than pistol.
Before you craft Virus Filter, craft +1 medkit,so you can have 3 medkits (this is one of the most important things).
If you didnt find clothers from cold till now-craft as well.
Keep watching your map sometimes and reading messages about other agents deaths-try to get to they death location and loot what they dropped.
Medicine (injections) is by far most effective way to stop your sickness - watch for Ambulance cars, usually you can find good stuff there.
Try to craft pulse before entering DZ.
DZ - avoid all yellow npc's,try to go to DZ3 and up,all mats there are yellows, which will help you craft HE weapons/gear.Avoid any harder NPC's unless you already have HE weapons/gear.
Try to watch where extractions - observe, dont rush,if players killed all Hunters, you can take they extraction if you fast enough ;)
Play smart - hiding is not weakness in Survival ;)
