*** The Division Thread 2.0 ***

Had a proper go at Survival this morning, love it. Planned on going solo throughout but ended up teaming up with a couple of randoms and glad I did, made for a much nicer experience. Helped them out by crafting some bits they needed then we headed to the DZ. After we downed a couple of named cleaners and tooling up a little, they rushed to the extraction while I was crafting, ended up scraping them up, plus another random, and we all extracted, was pretty cool.

The non-shared loot will annoy some, as if you're not first to openable objects, you won't get diddly. Comms will help for this, knowing what teammates need, and dropping accordingly. Really encourages teamplay though. My only gripe would maybe be that it was a little too easy, we were probably a little under-geared. Simple to rectify though.

For those who have me on their friends list, I have changed my IG name to Saiper-X. Same name I use across the other games I play.

So next up we farm the exact same loot again only with a higher gearscore 226 to 256 but the exact same items and gear just with higher stats to kill the exact same enemies who are now lvl 34.

Its not just a GS increase, there are new talents.

Frontline is a new gearset, and we now have better and new named weapons, AND named high end gear. Names masks/holsters etc.

All new weapons also - pretty cool

Yep, that's typically what happens when a looter gets updated over its lifespan. The crunch lies in that process being fun. For many, it is.

This is every ARPG ever... Diablo 1,2,3 - Torchlight 1 & 2, Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, POE and many many others.

Its a treadmill game system, you level up via the story mode and endgame is about the endless loot chase, this is it, some people enjoy the min / maxing of these types of games, trying out different builds etc to beat the game.

Its not for everyone.

I enjoy the story part the most, the endless gear chase is good fun in a group but i hate to be solo, i cannot play these types of games solo for very long.

These types of games are generally better when played in a group in all honesty, especially "The Division" as the PVE endgame is all group orientated and the PVP is much better in a group.

Not only fun but a challenge also. Hence why you get a split in playerbase.

I'd love it if in the World Tier 5 you had Hunter Factions in PVE and DZ. Colonel Charles Bliss's minions and uprise of new factions from the LMB would keep the story progressing whilst marrying the boring loot grind to new harder, tougher enemies.

Survival is great, it's like they listened to a conversation I once had whilst doing 4HM - suggesting enemies should have abilities from Underground. Hunter's kind of do that now as you are disrupted when they appear, so having someone with an immunizer station plays a vital role.

Moving on... the Survival concept is great. It shouldn't be split from the main game and plugged as DLC. What should be DLC is an extension to the awesome World they created in Manhattan and much more.

thats exactly what I been saying Twirly, this shouldnt be a 1 hour DLC special game mode, this should be exactly how the game world is. A survival, shooter in the best environment I've ever witnessed in a game. What they gave us originally was ok, but just a fraction of what I was expecting. The whole game should have survival elements built in just like DayZ, Miscreated etc. I wanna feel like the character I'm playing is my character, I'm in control of my survival, looting, killing, crafting etc. We can only hope.

I remember they had all this hype about dynamic weather etc pre release...

They should bring that Survival Mechanic into the game proper, at any given moment a storm should be able to hit and kick in survival type mechanics, where you have to prepare for the weather outside etc, they could have it where the longer you are outside the slower your reactions become and your life slowly depletes etc, anything that makes it more entertaining to be out in a snow storm.

Add in those Hunters when stuff like Supply Drops happen in and out of the DZ, have random npc factions actively attack specific map points enmasse like a large swathe of 30+ cleaners suddenly appear in a certain part of the map and start slaughtering everyone, then pop in the dynamic weather ontop of that and make an objective based system to integrate with it all etc.

I read that Survival stuff and while it sounds fun, it sounds poorly implemented and very basic for what it could be or become.

The Division has massive potential (Pardon the pun) but it seems the devs either have small sight or are just not bothered to actually produce a game that break ground.

Yup pretty much what I said in the last page, I really want this to be the main game not just a DLC that will die after a few weeks/months (like every DLC....)

They will probably make the main game like survival for div 2 :( :p :o

New Armour Cap in wt5 is 16,735 for 70%.

GS256 Gear:
Max native armour is: 8008
Max rolled armour as main stat is: 4158
Max armour in mods is: 1345

Total: 13511 = 56.6%

Don't aim for anything higher as its not possible. :) Im on 52% on one build already lol

Not much in it for the benchmark but DX 12 is noticeably smoother in game

Almost a 10% increase in FPS for you in DX12 but as you say you benefit from much smoother frames, i reckon the minimums are probably higher as well.

Good stuff, and this is without any real optomisations etc i guess also? will be interesting to see what the final release of it looks like.

Probably a massive increase in min fps as with every other dx 12 title, my min fps drastically increases and this game is even more punishing for my cpu. Shame the benchmark wasn't a bit more detailed to show the min fps as well as a frame latency graph.

And yeah dx 12 seemed rather poorly optimised i.e. when I alt tabbed, the window just hung on div, couldn't select anything else :p May have just been a one of though...

Just wish sweetfx would be upgraded to work with dx 12 now!

That isn't a bad boost in fairness and 10% with better mins is nice and I doubt it has been driver optimised yet either, so expect more performance when it is.

Looking for some 18+(im 31 myself) peeps to group up with in the game and do stuff with. Name is Phixsation and im 30 with 220+ gear and bored of soloing :). Some sort of comm software would be a plus.

I'm getting less gains from DX12.

I tried various overlays and even turned off Hyperthreading from Bios and Disabled Vsync from NV control panel and it made no difference.

Got another 2 extractions in tonight in Survival - so epic!

First one with 4 people, second with 3(as it took so long to get in and it was late)

Definitely, splitting up into 2 groups seems to work best in terms of resource gathering. We all got to the DZ with a good amount of time left, and extracted with decent gear on our backs.

Some amount of loot as well and it feels rewarding :)

Got my preds build, sentry/HF build and lonestar/banshee PVP build almost finished - OOC + EAD = OP as hell lol

Cant wait to get back on tomorrow again

Your running Maxwell Twirly, if Massive have implemented DX12 and used A-Sync your not going to see any gains, also you got a decent OC on your CPU and DX12 cuts the CPU overhead, coupled with your 980ti im suprised you dont get any benefit in this first iteration.

If your running a weaker GPU and an AMD Cpu however i expect to see a decent uplift.
