*** The Division Thread 2.0 ***

Thanks as always Neil. I only left work so wasn't able to watch it.

I'm backing their plans to be honest and its a bold and very risky move to push all DLC later than expected.

They need to fix the game before looking at the DLC, not even just the work involved in adding fixes to main game plus patch, but it wont solve anything and will look like they are brushing over the issues.

This will basically be the division 2.0 lol

Also, buyback at vendors - nice! :)

Can't wait for this update, looks to be a big one and pretty much a rewrite of everything after lvl 30.

So happy I will be able to run from the base to the UG :)

Will certainly be putting in my application to massive tomorrow, that should be an interesting trip to whoever gets picked.

yeah it definitely shows a desire to fix the issues which is good, personally I think it would've been wrong to push Survival with all of the stuff that is wrong right now.

October seems like a long time but we're nearly in September now so min of 5 weeks time.

Fingers crossed it's mostly stuff everyone is waiting for (won't be everything but it'll be a big start).

Agreed

Its a risky move as Im sure they know a lot of the player base wont be patient, but that is why all the forum stuff is being made available. To engage people who want to play.

They will need to market this well and re launch though I think.

Overall, smart decision which will make or break the game - I have confidence it will make it. :)

QoL fixes are amazing!

And they mentioned one of the coolest things I have read on reddit as an idea:

Someone ban this guy

Someone ban THIS guy!! O wait, my opinion doesn't count for **** either.....:D ;) :p

Bit peeved that Survivor has been pushed back so far, but I understand the need for changes. Wonder if we can get a refund on the Gold pack if we pushed it :D

O well, at least this game is gonna last a minimum of a year, which is pretty damn good I suppose :)

Why would you be entitled to a refund? The content has been delayed not cancelled which would be a different matter altogether.

jk

In all seriousness with the way the game has progressively evolved past the lvl 1-30 era and introduced new gearsets, shift in meta, new scaling, new npc difficulties, newer tier weapons etc they need to address the core issues with the game now.

That includes bugs, quality of life fixes, balance, longevity, injecting fun back into the game, balancing loot drops, crafting, resource management, PVP, DZ group exploits finding ways for solo players to enjoy the game again, lag fixes, cheat management etc

Why should they tack on DLC when there are underlying issues with the game all which have caused the population to diminish. It solves nothing and all it does is increase the playerbase for 1-2 weeks before everyone starts moaning and leave once again.

Therefore the announcement today was music to my ears because underneath all the crap at the moment is a great game and they are committed to fix it by prioritizing what is the right thing to do for the game overall.

If people are going to cry because a DLC is delayed then they are oblivious to the problems with the game and just want a quick content fix with the illusion that it injects fun back into the game.

We are aiming at releasing Update 1.4 in October, without the Survival expansion.

Will Update 1.4 be released simultaneously across all platforms?

Yes.

Will Update 1.4 be free?

Yes.

When is Survival coming out?

We will release Survival before the end of the calendar year. Since our current priority is on Update 1.4, we cannot commit to an exact release date just yet.

When is Last Stand coming out?

Last Stand is postponed to early 2017.

Can you give us more details on the changes to the core experience?

At the moment we are looking at the following topics:

Making loot drops more relevant to the player

We don’t have details yet as to what form these changes will take, but we will share these with you in the coming weeks.

What about other issues?

There are other topics that are very important to players’ experience which are not listed above. This does not mean that we are not aware of them, but only that they will be addressed later.

How do you plan to integrate community feedback in Update 1.4 and the following ones?

We have been and will continue to read your feedback on the forums, twitter, Reddit, etc. We are also planning a series of forum polls that will be asking for your feedback on very specific game topics, for us to have a complete understanding of your experience. When possible, we will also provide you with information on the upcoming changes, and ask for your feedback directly, before these changes are implemented in the game.

How will you keep us informed of the progress?

We will provide weekly updates on our progress in the State of the Game livestreams and articles. Make sure to look for these! Also, when major improvements are ready to be announced, we will communicate on them specifically.

Join the Elite Task Force!
Greetings Agents,

After the details surrounding Update 1.4 were announced yesterday, it’s now time to give you all a bit of extra insight as to how we’re going get there. We’ve said before that building and improving on our game is something that we want to do “with the community”, and in this case we mean that in the most literal sense.

In two weeks, we’ll be bringing people from the community to Massive in order to help make Patch 1.4 as valuable to our players as possible. This type of direct interaction between us on the development side and those of you that are out saving New York in The Division every day is definitely one of the key ways to improve the experience for all players. With that said, consider this a call for submissions; we’re looking for anyone within the community that wants to be a part of critical workshops and discussions at Massive in Malmö, Sweden. You don’t need to be a world famous YouTuber, gigantic streamer or podcast hero to be involved in this conversation either! If you play The Division, are willing to join us for a couple of days at Massive and are keen to speak up then we want to hear from you.

You’ll need to be available from September 7th – 9th
We’ll pay for the flights, hotel and food

We’re accepting submissions NOW. Fill out the form, let us know who you are and why you’d be a great candidate and we’ll see some of you in the studio very soon.

Introducing Agent Intel
Agents,

As part of our effort to bring the community closer to the Dev team and reinforce constructive discussions we are introducing Agent Intel. In this new sub forum, we will create regular threads to pick your brains on different topics and gather your immediate feedback.

You’ll find three main topics here.

Open Discussions: An opportunity for us to hone in on a certain topic and allow the community to constructively discuss everything about it.

Polls: Quick and immediate feedback through focused polls with predefined choices. These polls will also be open for discussion as well.

Theory Crafting: We will present certain scenarios and ask you to come up with your best solution to them, for example, your best solo Dark Zone build or the best group setup for Challenge Mode Dragon’s Nest.

All forms of feedback are encouraged as long as they remain constructive and adhere to the forum rules. With your help we will be able to provide a better experience for everyone in Update 1.4 and beyond.

Thanks for your help!

WANTED –Most annoying bugs
Agents,

You know now that Update 1.4 will focus entirely on improving the core gameplay experience. As part of this effort, we want to make sure to fix as many bugs as possible; those listed in our Known Issues and many more! However, we want to make sure to focus first on the ones that you think are impacting your experience the most. After all, you have to cope with these every day, so who best could help us identify the ones that should be on top of our kill list?

In this thread, we would like to ask you to give us YOUR list of the top 10 most annoying bugs, based on your own gameplay experience.

Putting your top 10 lists together will allow us to draw a clear roadmap of the most pressing issues that we must make sure to look at for Update 1.4.

In order to keep this thread relevant and allow us to sort your answers efficiently, here are a few rules:
Make sure to only list bugs and technical issues. Balancing will be discussed in other topics
Please do not comment or debate on other members’ lists
Your top 10 must be listed in the answer (no link to another thread or video, etc)
One reply per member

Thank you all for your help!

I read from this that either

A) they don't know how to fix their game

or

B) they do, but so much is wrong they can't do it all. So are putting the feelers out in the community to find the top 10 things that they should fix with their limited time.

As I told those who have blinkered vision and selective hearing on Reddit

Sounds just like a PR stunt to me. Not everyone agrees with the shortsighted nature of Skillup. Additionally there have been excellent posts by Reddit community members, Discord groups, Blog creators and in the Community Discussion voip channels in Discord how the game can be improved by agreeing what the problems are first.

I think the MVPs at Division Discord can do a better job personally, just because they are out from the Youtube limelight doesn't make the content they have created, support to the community and their suggestions irrelevant. Reddit will always support those who shout loudest and not those who look at the overall picture.

It doesn't need an all expense paid trip to do that especially when guys like Total, Spyder and DocHoliday (Well known Data Miners and Theory Crafters) just to name a few won't be able to go due to work and family commitments and are better imo for giving feedback.

I recall that DICE pulled the same stunt for BF3. They sent a few people from the old EAUK forums to Stockholm and nothing positive came out from it.

PTR's works well and in BF4 CTE it was successful as David Sirland listened to everyone not just those who have the ability to create videos/steal content from others. Even some game developers run a beta branch through Steam where content owners can run a test branch.

Therefore a PTR environment and engaging through other channels will be good for the future of this game.
