*** The Division Thread 2.0 ***

Reading the 1.5 PTS patch notes and getting a bit angry:

- new WT;
- new gear score;
- gear set changes;
- EAD now a major (once more facilitating PvP and destroying PvE a little more);
- and so on.

I'm having a long hard think if I want this, but I think I'm out for good. Once again they're changing the entire game. It's like playing an Alpha. :)

So they add more content/stuff in general, rebalance a very broken game and you are unhappy?

They have a great base game but a lot of flaws, they are doing every possible to get it back on track.

I don't understand your perspective at all.

What I mean is that I have never, ever, played a game that changed on a (semi-)monthly basis so drastically; it makes me feel that all I have done in 1.2, 1.3 and now 1.4 is rendered (almost) useless. I suspect that with 1.6 we will yet again get another gear score, meaning we will have to start all over again. I might wait it out until the very final patch and see what it's like then, and hop back in if it peaks my interest. Knowing beforehand that what I'll do in 1.5 will be a bit pointless when 1.6 hits does not motivate me; it frustrates me. The unbalanced argument: very true! They needed to have done better from the start, all this switching just shows me (personally) that they don't know how to make a proper game (it's been all over the place, hasn't it? No hard feelings, just an observation).

1.4 was a major overhaul to fix the core system. 1.5 is expanding onto that with a higher GS and WT bracket (you don't want to spend the rest of the lifespan of the game farming 229, the game naturally has to get harder with better gear).

If they didn't add new content and higher level stuff each time then there would be no reason to continue playing a game all about loot... I know for a fact that I would have stopped playing for good ages ago if that was the case.

yeah but once you hit max level gear its far too easy. you need another tier to try and get new kit to make it a challenge. thats the whole point :)

have they made any changes today?

I keep getting shot through corners on buildings and just killed a boss the same way. I knew he was behind the corner, just fired at it and killed him.

Well I bought it and had a bit of time with it. Only level 6 but its a lot of fun and looks nice at 3440x1440, had to turn a few settings down on a GTX1080 but with gsync it runs very smooth around 65-70fps.

Early days should I be speccing a certain way or looking out for anything? Currently just selling all the crap and just upgrading with any loot I pick up.

Any places have any good guides or build guides?

nope. no patches in the last maintenance either (thurs).

Looks like PTS is down? But really enjoying what I am seeing so far. My 4 piece Alpha/2 Sentry 229 copes pretty well and not picked anything up to replace it yet but my other chars have, so all good.

Same with my Preds with good Armour damage on it BUT all the Enemy Armour damage is going to be rolled off our kit when the next patch goes live :(

Survival is so damn hardcore, I love it!!!!!!!!

At one point I had a minute to live, searching for divtech for a flare fun when I found it as well as meds!!! Screamed at Mario to run like FCK to the safehouse so I could craft then the hunters appeared...oh my days man.

From what I've played so far I love it, nice and challenging. I love that you have to start from scratch each time as it makes the mission completely unpredictable :)

Will be back on in the morning and give it another go.

I have work so going to give it a good go tonight till about 4am then leave it lol

now that the excitement of Survival has calmed down a bit here is a realistic summary of it:

  • Survival
  • Survival is very fun in PVE and PVP - but also very hard
  • Main aim is to get to the DZ ASAP to get the best gear it seems to prepare for the hunters
  • Meds are so important to prolong your life in order to get the gear
  • it seems 2 hunters per 1 player - so if you are in a group of 4 it would almost be better to bully your way into someone else extraction (if they are solo or duo)
  • Feels like a major challenge
  • I don't like how the survival matches can start at different times for the 24 players in the map - it needs to be the same time. not as much of a problem in PVE but PVP could allow for geared vs non geared instead of an equal start.
  • The hunters are so OP and freaky. Yet to decide if they are OP, or the sickness is OP in terms of time required to get geared enough for a fight.

    1.5
  • WT5 is either a bit too easy or the weapons I chose are too OP. Me, Momo and Mario were melting level 34 elites with our 256 mg5 - that OP AR and for me - I didn't even have all the talents unlocked and was 1000 FA short of being anywhere near it
  • Nerfs will happen to some of the weapons
  • Drop rate is still as high - less gearsets though it seems
  • Brutal has a 5600 odd FA requirement - I am doubting this can be met without deciding to lose stamina whereas in 1.4 - you could have talents unlocked and over 400k toughness
  • Armour formula seems different - struggling to get past 55% at the moment but that might just be RNG.

    So.....survival is a challenge, wt5 isn't - but both are super fun! Survival will keep me hooked till we are speedrunning it lol

Bah, I can't access the PTS. It's a shame it's not open for everyone, because it would serve as a good way of demo'ing and testing the content prior to purchase. It does sound good though, however so did Underground...

I've found a great way to pass the time though. Rather than grinding for gear, I have dug my sniper rifles out of storage. After a slight adjustment to my stats, I now have the perfect build for annoying the living daylights out of people.

Step 1 - Find a suitable elevated sniping position
Step 2 - Ensure I am on the last bullet in the mag (Provident)
Step 3 - Shoot any player I see in the head (works best when they are in combat with npc's or mid extracting)
Step 4 - Run and hide
