Are we living in the same ******* country here?

22 HMRC offices are now closed.

I don't know where do you live?

Thats what it is like here and my wife managed an 18 mile journey at 7 this morning with no gritters and sub zero temps.

There are a lot of lazy people but there are just as many who try and fail.

I disagree I think that there are a lot less people who actually make a concerted effort to get to work than there are lazy people who use a bit of snow as an excuse to take a day off.

in all honesty tomorrow is going to be worse on minor roads as we are due some severe sub zero temps tonight, -4 to -8 air temp (even colder at ground level) its gonna be fun, fun, fun tomorrow lol

wish I still had my cross country skiing gear altho that was a few years ago, doubt my aging bones could hack it now :)

bit of a dilemma of what i do tomorrow. i can walk to work if i have to. (3 mile walk) but if i get there to find out we are shut again i wont be happy.

Edinburgh, but I don't know what thats got to do with anything as I've made it to work everyday, walking when the bus wouldn't go up the icy hills.

do they not have a phone?

sorry. what i meant is walking all that way get to work and then a couple of hours later the boss decides to close.

im the first one in usually so unless im late. there will be nobody in to phone and then if i walk im gonna be about another 45 mins to a hour.

We are in the same country, some have heavy snow and bad conditions. The ones with a few inches use it as an excuse for not going to work.

Everybody yes?

You can say with certaintanty that everyone with a few cm's or inches WILL use it for an excuse?

I'd love some of the omniscient powers that are displayed in here..

 (omg the smiley looks sooo bad bald!!)

keep them coming

Well after get stuck in work (AGAIN) and it taking me over 2 hours to get home (normally 30 mins), I won't be going to my normal office tonight. However I have already made arrangements to go work out of a different office so I can do the job I am paid to do.

One of the things about working for a blue lights organisation is that you can't just decide to not go to work. If I don't turn up, then there will be literally 10 people who can't login to a computer (:p). Its more about me being there to make sure that should anything major fallover, we can react and try to get the systems back online as quick as possible.

Haha, I decided not to go to work today cos of the snow and logged in from home, turns out of an office of around 60 people I was the only one not there .....ooops.

Well work were good enough to give me the option to take a days leave or give me temp remote access to dial into work from home so I did the latter.

Could get used to this WFH lark; working with music in the background all relaxed and getting stuff done. Awesome :)

Haha, got to work normally, then spent the entire morning with people at home telling me the snow was awful and the conditions are bad, so collected some work together in a suitcase (2 days worth) and came home to work from the comfort of my house.

And find the snow isn't that bad and everyone around is being a tad melodramatic, however, I have stuff to work at from home so that's what I'm gonna do for the next couple of days!!! :D
