The Dubai thread!

if you'd actually followed the story you'd realise that he was drunk and stoned off his face and tried to throw a hotel worker and then himself off a balcony. He had to be restrained and was arrested then put in a cell where he choked on his own vomit.

Uk media loves to hate dubai

that's why they're still refusing to release the body back to Britain?

The most horrible, fake and horrendous place on the earth. I had to spend 24 hours there on a stop over and hated every second of it. Everything takes place in massive malls, the streets are dead and anyone in a place of authority treats you terribly.

Oh, and I almost got arrested for drinking water on the metro station. In ~40 degree heat.

Seriously, avoid. So many better arabic countries to go to.

so you went there for 24 hours in Ramadan and know everything?
If you're in q country you need to respect their culture, that means not drinking in public in ramadan. It's not hard.

And personnally all the authorities I have met have been friendly and understanding and there's plenty to do apart from go to malls

I am majorly impressed by the massive skyscrapers and crazy buildings but I do feel it isn't that impressive when you have loads of oil and slaves.

get some human rights you nobbers.

A disgusting place built on the back of misery.

The sooner we move away from oil and the inherent evil it seems to bring, the sooner these places can fade into the desert.

Went last year and whilst I enjoyed it, it is a strange place. Once you get past the amazing structures and expensive shopping malls etc you're not left with much imo.

I certainly couldn't live there.

I used to live in Abu Dhabi, it is *MUCH* better than Dubai.

Dubai is just so fake, there is no culture whatsoever and just has no personality. Pointless city really.

I live in Abu Dhabi, which is the richer big brother of Dubai. There is NO getting away from the fact that you live in a desert, everything is fake and man made and there is no life like birds or animals.

You can have lots of money but it doesn't mean that you are not in the 3rd world.

Travel regularly to Dubai for work and pleasure, every month or so, really do love it out there. Will be moving out there in the near future.

Nice place to relax, take a whole wad of cash with you though it certainly isn't cheap. Never had a problem whilst out there etc.

Usual city things to do, eat, sleep, drink, party.

Thread clearly shows a lot of folk who haven't been! Cost being a prohibitive factor, it's not like Benidorm :D :p

Yes it does unless you want UK to be a police state then we will all end up living with more harsher laws over here and that would curtail our fundamental human rights to a large extent.

Eh?

I mean when people come here they expect to abide by their own laws not the ones in place by our government.
