How do you feel about the appalling treatment and borderline slavery of the immigrants used to build the place?

I have been to Dubai twice, but I still prefer it to London, I dont think there is anything in London that I can do that I cannot do in Dubai, I'm still trying to think of one, anyone know?

Yeah it's somewhat contradictory. I think most people would consider being arrested for showing affection or being gay detrimental to their enjoyment of their holiday...

While you do exaggerate the point there are of course some restrictions. But this is something which only ignorant tourists May fall foul of and not something that's going to affect the quality of your life by observing.
Even having sex in public place resulted in jail and deportation but not execution. So I don't know where you get your facts from.
They are certainly not the first country to exploit cheap Labour that's for sure. But it is extremely visible here.
Those guys work very long hours, 6 days a week (Labourers) sometimes 7, and live in awful conditions. They earn about 200gbp a month.
As they are mainly unskilled guys this is perhaps better than they could get in india/bangladesh/pakistan or they wouldn't come.
That doesn't condone their treatment though and when developers abandon them or don't pay salary its disgusting.
Living here you can and help by tipping and donating stuff to such people you are in contact with, security, cleaners etc
1000s of historic sites, museums, galleries etc. - Dubai has a handful of poor offers
100s of excellent visitor attractions - dubai has some very average arcade based entertainment centres, the ski slope, two good waterparks and a poor amusement park
good opportunities to eat, drink and shop in both, but London has hotels, restaurants, bas and shopping which have evolved over 100s of years and are much more interesting. Dubai is full of replication.
history, culture and sights everywhere in London vs well hidden, if they exist at alll, in Dubai (slightly tongue in cheek as the history there, though largely ignored is quite interesting)
some of the best public spaces in the world vs nothing much outside the hotels and the creek
a network of public transport that can get you anywhere quickly vs a horribly congested, poluted, crawling road system and the metro which is just getting going
one of the most complex and important cities in the world vs an interesting sideshow and failed experiment in 'build it and they will come' tourism regeneration

Jealous of Dubai, I can't think of many places I'd rather not work at more!
well they're lied to about how much they'll earn and they have their pass ports remove and are indebted with a fee before you they start work.
Which as I'm sure you know working in Dubai means
A) They cannot leave
B) If they quit their jobs they're going to jail.

Also even from a law standard, I am not exagerating. The penalty under the Sharia for sex outside marriage, same gender relationships, or Apostasy is death.
I simply cant understand how anyone from the west could even consider going on holiday to, or even working in any such countries. In most cases I am very sure that they simply are not aware.

That's because all the hookers in Moscow have moved from the brothels to the clubs unfortunately. Even some of the good clubs here have really gone downhill because of this.
As to Dubai, you'd have to pay me a hell of a lot more than I get paid in Moscow to make me move to Dubai. I was there in January for a week, not very impressed to be honest.
