The Duke has returned

TBH I still think it will do well regardless of if the gfx is any good, a lot of people seem to forget that before duke was a legendary fps character he was a legendary platform game character (Duke Nukem and Commander Keen are easily the gods of PC platform games) and Duke3D capitalized on his fame and held its own against Quake despite being vastly inferior graphically, this game too will sell just because its Duke Nukem and his is that damn good.

Its like Guns n Roses doing a untraceable act for 10 years then finally releasing an awesome album (didn't live up to the hype but still just as amazing as the previous albums) now their kicking ass on a sell-out world tour despite the media doing everything possible to trash them. Duke will be the same, people will say they don't care but when it hits it will be popular, a play tester from 2008 said it looked better than Crysis and I still think Crysis is awesome

Whats your point? It was a great game and can still be fun today. That doesn't change the fact that trying to capatilise on an IP as outdated as Duke will not instantly make it awesome. Its no different to when they re-released Serious Sam.

Yeah yeah, because these days its impossible to disagree with something without being on a 'bandwagon'. You seem to be on a bandwagon of your own, disagreeing with everyone who is even remotely skeptical, dare i say, realistic, that a new Duke game will probably suck, especially given the myriad of problems its had over the last 13 years. So really...

So many self righteous kiddies on this forum lately... starting to get tedious at best.

Not sure exactly why I'm replying, but if you acknowledge it was a fun game then how do you justify the statement "Anyone who's played an earlier Duke game will know to steer clear of this one"? :confused:

No one's forcing you to buy it, why plough into a thread and insult people looking forward to it and calling them gullible idiots and arrogant retards? Oh I forgot, we're hoping the game will be good and are willing to wait until it comes out before trashing it - the gall of it! We should be pilloried and have children throw faeces at us!

Duke Nukem at this stage is nothing but a memory. Even if you've played the earlier ones recently you're only going through the stages of nostalgia... imagining that the new game will instantly be a ray of sunshine is just naive. *cough* Doom 3 *cough*

How could you possibly hope that Duke Nukem Forever is going to live up to itself? Sure theres always an outside chance the game might be a blessing in disguise so the final judgement will be reserved for release, but such a long time has passed, will it have anything worthwhile to bring to the table? Maybe it'll just be average in order to finally get the game out but if thats the case, why do we need another game trying to be average rather than to be excellent...

Your wrong actually, I was refering to what you said about MW2 which is bandwagon nonsense. Go elsewhere little troll.

Yet another prime example of someone acting like he has the moral high ground when the reality is somewhat different.

I tell you this though, DNF will be awesome. I don't know how I know but I just know it and will send a pack of 10p sweets to you if it isn't.

Yeah, this tbh - there's no way it will be representative of 13 years' hard labour that they put into it, but there's little doubt that it'll be competent and fun. Maybe it'll be a little retro in the way it feels, but that's a good thing to me. I hate these modern shooters where you plod about so slow it feels like running through treacle, and you switch weapons with all the urgency of sipping a coctail (misspelt to elude profanity filter:p) at the beach. From the looks of the gameplay videos it looks like it's gonna have all the superhuman speed, absurd weapons and low-latency controls of the early-90s PC-only FPSs, and I welcome that with my fist upraised in a devil-horns salute and the cry "ROCK ON!" emanating from my throat! :p I realize that it won't be to the taste of people who learned to play FPSs on console, but I don't think they're trying to sell the game to you, so don't hate us if we like it! :)

Hypocrit, look it up if your unsure of the meaning. Supposedly having a right to call all MW2 players gullible morons pretty much means your talking out of your pie hole to be fair.

As for DNF, will have to see what state the game is released in and if it brings anything new to the table whilst retaining what made the series actually enjoyable in the first place.
