The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Cheers, gonna look for the guide now , i just fancy having it , never owned any of TES games so i may need it , wont be relying on it though.

I'm thinking about getting this, I've never had the previous games though, is there a danger I could get bored with the amount of walking around you have to do?

There is quick travel where you can instantly move between places you've visisted... but seriously walking about exploring is 90% of the game :p

The Elder Scrolls/Fallout games are MUCH better if you never use fast travel, i used to use it a lot but started to ignore it and found the game improved greatly. (you have to keep it on though as you will inevitably get stuck somewhere and have to use it)

There's a fast-travel system which allows you to instantly (after a loading screen) arrive at any major settlement/city.

There's also an in-game map which should make planning routes easier.

There are also horses which cut-down travel time, and possibly speed spells.

I can't believe people are actually taking a couple of days off work to be able to play this!

I mean seriously, you reckon you can finish this in less than a week?! :p

Thing is, it seems like it would be good until the vast amount of walking got tedious, like everything, if you do the same thing for so long it gets boring, but this game has a big following so I thought that might not be the case, I just don't really want to buy it and then not like it.

I only quick travelled playing Oblivion after i pretty much discovered everything on the map,was after over 200 hours play time :p

Hope this is the same.

Depending on the story, i shall probably go through the main questline quite quickly, i will have to see how open the story is. I hope it is something like FNV where the main story is quite unfocused so it allows you to go off exploring without it interfering with the story

I got completely hooked on Morrowind, yet Oblivion never caught me in the same way and looking back I think I blame quick travel, as has been mentioned so much of the fun of these games is what you stumble across on route from one place to another so I will definitly be avoiding using quick travel in Skyrim.
