The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I just installed the borderless window mod because Im an alt-tab-aholic, it is wonderful, Skyrim stays open while I do anything else on my second monitor :)

It amazes me that Bethesda never made an option for "Windowed without border"

Why would anyone want windowed mode the way it is. Really baffles me.

Daedric base stats are higher. Be aware that there's meant to be a bug with ebony armor though, apparently heavy armor perks aren't affecting it.

Came accross a huge dungeon last night full of tough Draeger's! (i'm level 13 and they were taking a good 5 hits each from a duel handed sword) and Dreagers that could summon what i can only describe as a ice abominable snowmen!
Took me ages to get to the end and thats when i was confronted by the boss Draeger who just one shot killed me. Needless to say i ran! Luckily the exit was just behind him and easily accessible.
Wont say to much but he wasn't the worst

Just reading up on a few things before a make another archer, do attributes always stay the same ?

Like if I picked a Wood Elf with agility being 50 will always be 50 or would it level up as get more perks in archery?

Thanks.

If you select the 'mage' class are you at a disadvantage ? I'm told that for some reason the spell damage is bugged or doesn't scale.

Daedric is the best heavy armour; as a few people have said in the 30 seconds I took to type this post. :)

All races have the same base stats.

Magic is very powerful through the entire game. Abusing smithing + enchanting probably makes melee do more damage eventually.
Play for the experience. It's not WoW and it's not a competition.

I have to say i am finding sword+shield much more satisfying than dual-wielding tbh. I am a little disappointed with dual-wielding in the game, you do a lot of damage but are too open to attack as you rarely interrupt enemies attacks, plus you use a hell of a lot of stamina. I was going dual-wielding with axes but i think i will change so that my main focus is sword+shield now.
Maybe i just haven't put the right stats up for dual-wielding.

Oh and i am yet to be unimpressed with a single dungeon i have come across so far!

Sword + Shield for me but I still have trouble with spell casting enemies. Once I get in and start bashing all is good. It's the damage they do while I'm trying to get close thats the problem.

I'm about to start a quest that I think will give me a companion. I've already got some nord woman following me though and she's pretty tough so I wanna keep her. If I just tell her to wait in my house (it's not actually mine, I killed the owner and just use it for storage) will she still be there when I return? On my mage character I had some dog following me. When I told him to wait at the entrance of the cave he had gone when I came back. He didn't seem like a proper companion though so just wondering if anyone has done something similar?

Be very careful doing this after about 1 month game time uninhabited places can sometimes become inhabited with mobs/bandits ect.

I find that a combination of 1 handed and magic works well for me. Blast em with fire at a distance, then close in and hack em to pieces.

This is what I do, if they even get close.

On mage type mobs I just shout and knock them back, and with the power 1 handed attacks I can normally stunlock them till they die.

Foolishly figured out how to equip spells more easily without faffing with menus.

Q > 1, 2, 3... > on favourite spell!

Press twice for dual casted. Feel silly for not trying this out earlier.

Ive been playing for a while now, lvl 7 fighter type. I think my taste in games has changed quite a bit. Im struggling to enjoy it.
Music is great, reminds me of Guild Wars and Morrowind. Voice acting is ok, some of it is awful. Graphics is great, having no problems with everything on ultra/high with my 8200 and ati6870.
The land seems a bit 'flat' at the moment. At one point i got a quest that seemed miles away on the map but actually only took me a few minutes to run to. Thought it was a bit odd seeing a giant camp so near the main city, but thats just my rpg side coming out.

I think its all about it not being anything new that i am struggling with. I had everything (and more) in Morrwind and Skyrim doesnt feel different enough. Guess once i have been spoilt by a game thats kinda me done. I think thats what i felt about Risen, i didnt enjoy the Gothic series after i had played Risen.

Its also very easy at the moment.

Its not a bad game and ill probably carry on for a while yet, it doent have the epic feeling Morrowind had, but make thats my taste in games changing. I love nothing more than sitting down to play an isometric rpg like Avernum, Avadon, Icewind Dale, Dragon Age and the like. I think Skyrim is just to much a hack and slash. But im going to keep trying incase it gets better.

If i had never played Morrowind this might have been a lot more fun for me.

So I got a new mage circlet from the Archmage and was checking it out, and wondered why my character was making angry faces:

Then I saw mages with spells equipped rushing into the courtyard. I looked around and spotted this:

...

I must record the battle, but MSI Afterburner seems to have stopped working with Skyrim, I no longer get the FPS counter, nor does the screen or video capture work! :(
