The Emirates FA Cup 3rd Round ** Spoilers ** [6th - 9th January 2023]

It’s not just Potter, it’s Boehly too. He’s getting far too involved for someone who hasn’t got a clue about football. It’s pretty much common knowledge that Potter hasn’t got a jot of a say in transfers. Owners should just leave it to the people who actually understand the game.
The problem with Boehly, he wants to run Chelsea like the Dodgers. Potter's job will be managing the players who are bought by the club directors.
This might work for Baseball, clearly its useless in Football. :(

The funny thing is you thinking Potter has a scouting team. I'm sure Chelsea have a scouting team but I very much doubt they report to Potter

I'm pretty sure Potter brought someone with him that was instrumental in a number of the Brighton signings, can't remember his name, wouldnt be hard to find.

Edit. Ahh...Macaulay is his name. Says he is head of scouting at Chelsea

He doesn’t seem very good at his job tbh

Wonder how many more games Chelsea can lose before Potter gets pushed. 2 more?
I made a comment 2 days ago on another forum that Potter would be gone by Valentine’s Day. Apparently that was “Preposterous”. I think that’s very much on the cards! Especially the injuries are crippling his side.

When he was appointed I made a comment on the video from Sky News on YouTube that his appointment reminds me of United getting Moyes. Some Chelsea fans was saying Potter is much better than Moyes and he will do great things. What these 12 year old on YouTube don’t realise is that Moyes actually took Everton to 4th place one year which Potter has never done. By actual results Moyes is a more successful manager, even back then.

I think Potter is a good manager but he is out of his depth in Chelsea. The owners might think they want a long term project but if the results don’t go their way the fans won’t stand for it.

Potter is a much more exciting manager who can get his sides playing good football. The difference between Brighton and Chelsea is huge in every way. There are some parallels between Moyes and Potter insofar as both being ill suited for the job they took for sure. Moyes never understood the difference in expectation and attitude that was expected at United and I don't think Potters management style will fly at Chelsea with all their "star" players.

There comes a point where no matter how much the odds are against you, you cannot deliver such poor results and keep your job and I think Potter is approaching that point soon.

I'm not sure Potter is not suited for the job, I think the timing of taking the job couldn't be more wrong though. It's hard enough when a new manager takes over without a proper structure above him but when there's no proper structure and a brand new owner, it must be 10x harder. I think you mentioned the state of Chelsea's squad yourself fez, it's a complete mess with a mix of players bought for or by various different people.

I've jokingly commented on Boehly being taken for a ride by agents in the past but I genuinely believe he's being guided by various agents. I remember John Henry comparing the way football operates to the Wild West shortly after FSG bought Liverpool and I can imagine it's been a massive culture shock for Boehly too. For him to take over the club on fairly short notice, with no experience running a football club, the key decision makers at Chelsea leaving with Abramovich and there being a fair amount of work needing doing, it shouldn't be a huge surprise that things have gone so badly. Sooner or later he'll learn the ways of European football and Chelsea will have some proper football operators in place again - I doubt Potter will still be around by then though.
