The Emirates FA Cup Quarter Finals ** Spoilers ** [20th - 21st March 2021]

United have been lucky this season in that their big players have bailed them out time and again, and it's a weak league. This side is no better than a couple of years back with the exception of Bruno. If Pogba or Fernandes don't do something magic, United have to get lucky to win

I could care if the players that play utter dross every single game actually got dropped. Looking at Maguire and Martial primarily here. Neither of them should be anywhere near first choice.

It's the attitude that the standard of play is acceptable that makes it so frustrating.

Same here. At the stage where you know there is nothing good to come while Ole is in charge and you are just waiting until he makes enough of a mess of a 3 month period where he gets the sack. It will happen with no plan for his replacement and the cycle will continue.

Oles done plenty of good with the squad and morale but he’s just a bang average manager that shouldn’t be anywhere near a top 6 team.

Yet when played them earlier in the season we totally bossed them

Martial needs to go.
Greenwood and Rashford have been poor for the most part. Defensively we are poor even though we play two holding mids. AWB hasn't a clue going forward
If anyone thinks we will get top 4 next year without major team changes they are deluded. Ole just doesn't have a clue

I remember reading a really good interview with Rio Ferdinand in the FT (weirdly) a few years back. He was talking about his first training session at United. The first time he got the ball he decided to play it safe and passed sideways to the other centre back. Keane stopped the game, stormed over to him, and told him that they hadn't signed him to play easy safe football and to step up (I think with a few more swearies). You just don't get the impression that that happens at the club now.

I don't think that happens in any club nowadays but I take your point.
Think of any of the premier league teams and tell me who has a Roy Keane or a Patrick Viera or a Graeme Souness. Those players don't exist anymore and neither do managers who encourage it. I actually think it mirrors society and that type of aggressive behaviour is just not acceptable.
That aside you do feel that this United side has gone as far as it can with the current personnel in both playing and coaching. Rodgers has done a much more credible job at at Leicester. Too many of the United players are not even technically good enough.

So what? We've beaten most teams at some point or another (see Man City recently). We just keep going round in circles ultimately.

We have lost our first game in months and now it's all gone crazy for Ole yet Arteta is battling to stay in the top half of the league and he is doing fine. Lol

Leicester have had 7 days rest and we had a massive battle in Italy against Milan. Whether you are against Ole. The result is hardly surprising. It is of no surprise now looking back why he tried to rotate and freshen things up.

Whilst that is true in terms of losses you have also only won 4 of the last 10 in the league.

The result isnt that surprising because Leicester are a good team and although I had a dig earlier RE comparing squads, Uniteds isnt as strong as you think it is.

United should get top 4 and if you win the Europa aswell (I think you will) it has to go down as a successful season.

Then you can rebuild in the summer. Sell a couple off and go poach some players from Ligue 1 because theyre all skint.

Oh I know we are miles off and clearly you can see we are dragging ourselves over the line. Especially compared to that October - January period. I honestly do not think we are that bad though. We are one or two players short at the back. Once we have that solid it will make our attack much better as the forward players are just crapping themselves to lose the ball because they know our defence just gets cut up like butter.

My main worry is Harry Maguire and how does one get rid of him as he is as big a mistake as Lukaku was but selling a forward on is much easier.

I know this is coming from an over-excited Leicester fan who's had a few drinks, but is there a better midfield two than tielemans and ndidi in the PL at the moment?

Aside from telles/shaw wasn't that your first choice defence?

Edit: or did you just mean you need to buy more?

Huh?!

Relevance?

This is somewhat fair, but we still have a habit of playing badly like this regardless of rest or not.

We are going nowhere. People need to stop accepting this mediocrity. (Yes, I know it could be worse, but the longer this drags on, the harder it'll be to get back to the very top)

I think you need a CB, RB, CM, ST and possibly a wide player. I mean of genuine starting 11 quality as well. It looks like Alaba might be going to Madrid but I'd of been all over him then id absolutely raid Lille for a few of those.

The last game we lost was against SU in January. It is now nearly April. People forget that. If you took that freak result out of it you need to go even further back to November.

We are going nowhere yet since Ole has started we have got rid of most of the deadwood and improved our league position year on year.

He does need a trophy though but Arteta has two and look how badly he is doing.

Next season is crux for him though. If we are not constant then I will be surprised if he is still there after next summer.

Ole's saving grace is the 3-4 month nightmare Utd had at the start of the 18/19 season under Mourinho as it seems that's what everybody is basing his so called progress on. It gets forgotton that Utd had finished 2nd with 81 points just a few months earlier and that was considered an underachievement given the squad Utd had/investment into the squad. Ole's taken that same squad, spent a fortune 'improving' it and picked up 66 points last season and on course to pick up 75 points this season.
