took you a while to work that out ?

Because i've lived here 3 years doesn't exclude me from coming back to live in the UK at anytime i want.

Ive voted in every general/local election since 18.

Nope just had to break off to have a shower. You do have a different outlook though not being resident here. I understand it's not all sweetness and light these days in Sweden. How do you find it, do you speak Swedish?

I think its safe to say that every politician involved have taken a hit in terms of credibility, whether it was because of what they said or their side associated with. Exception is probably Farage, who started with quite low credibility and has ridden this Brexit wave to the peak. Whether he gets crushed by the wave or comes out of the surf smoothly depends on what happens this week i suppose.
Corbyn has handled himself okay but all the people trying to swing the argument by using an MP's death to silence people by shaming them with false accusations of racism and making fake insults at posters while pretending Britain will become divided and have no more allies certainly lost a bit of credibility.

I'm a little more sceptical of Boris but when they are all lying then how can I really sit around and pretend one liar is so much better than another  Some can be worse of course but I'm more worried about the ones willing to use death and divide the public with shaming more.

I was just discussing with the other half that whatever the outcome and no matter the vitriol in the arguments we should be proud we live in a mature confident democracy that can ask itself tough questions.

There are no riots, no killings, no tanks on the streets and the generals won't take over if the result goes the wrong way, whatever that is.

It's nice to live in a stable country.

I'd love to see that, the remain camp are welcome to be the outsiders, they can flee the UK on Friday AM for all I care :p

Don't you worry about me. I certainly will not spend a thought on leavers that will regret their choice.

These two posts really sum up how depressingly divisive this referendum has become. It's not limited to this forum either; whenever something on Facebook comes up related to the referendum, one only has to look at the comments to see snarling, angry and insulting posts from people on both sides of the debate. Leavers shouting about Remainers being traitors, Remainers sneering at Leavers for being uneducated and racist. The whole campaign revolving around buzzwords and cheesy catchphrases. I walk past the Orpington Conservative Club every morning and there's a sign in the window addressing "Brexiteers". Utterly cringeworthy. And now, some genius has coined the pun "Bremaniacs", so you can't even engage in any sort of adult debate without these stupid little buzzwords and childish insults working their way into the conversation.

I'm frankly finding the whole thing a bit embarrassing. I was looking forward to Friday more because I was tired of the whole thing and couldn't wait for it to end, rather than any actual interest in the result. But I don't know about anyone else, but I get the uneasy feeling that whatever the outcome, we will end up a deeply divided nation and that actually worries me a little.

EDIT: After I typed that, I scrolled up and saw the below posts. Kind of sums up my unease :(

I find the 'brainwashed' comments hilarious.

How exactly do you think people get brainwashed?

Its not like most subjects touch on the EU or have anything to do modern politics.

Hell, universities and education boards kick off for being anything but completely neutral in education.

You must know different academics to me then. It's a very socialist left leaning environment in my experience. But then you would expect that given the way education is funded.

The Fabian Society founded the LSE for instance. Check out their philosophy, interesting stuff. Also read up on "Common Purpose" another interesting organisation.

The information is out there if you want to find it.
