Brave Dave is closing in on an EU deal. Great, I wonder what fundamental reforms will take place as a result of this agreement? Err well it seems that Britain will be allowed to halt in-work benefit payments to EU migrants if we can prove they're putting a strain on our system, and we can get the other 27 members to agree to us putting on the "emergency brake". In other words, we've got nothing since there's absolutely no chance of all 27 other member states voting to help Britain out ever. FFS Dave this is getting embarrassing.

Cameron is a moron. From your link

"deny in-work benefits to people from other parts of the EU for up to four years"
What it should be is "deny in-work benefits to people from other parts of the EU for four years"

Looks like dave is trying to follow UKIP but is failing.

I have to be honest, while I've been hearing plenty of reasons to leave, I don't seem to be hearing much from the IN camp?

Of all the posts so far I find this the most odd.

Are you actively avoiding reasons to stay in or are you unable to research them (not that they need the research ability above a small child given how public the whole thing is)?

There are several reasons to stay in, just as there several to stay out. And my belief hasn't changed that the reasons to stay in outweigh those to leave.

Then why are you so anti-immigrant?

I'm not going to speak for Rob, but from a purely logical point of view it makes sense than an immigrant would against the sort of chaotic immigration policy we have at the moment. People come here from all over the world and make the best lives they possibly can for themselves. I'm not going to claim that the UK is the best country in the world but people are at least free to do that. Then if you have an external pressure that adversely affects everyone's lives then it's natural that they would expect our government do deal with that external pressure effectively. I don't deny that there are perceived benefits to positive net migration, but neither can it be denied that there are significant problems that are perhaps more easily perceived - for example crime, pressure on public services, cultural friction.

Mostly right, to that i would add cultural differences, a South American is already very westernised and would integrate very easily. We're Catholics and hence have a very similar view point and outlook to the average christian englishman.

Compare that so a devote Muslim who would look at an englishman and despise that he drinks, gamble, eats pork and thinks his woman is an easy whore because she likes to wear a nice skirt

Lets be accurate here, i am pro-controlled immigration, like when my parents came.

This is exactly how I and most people I know who want to vote out feel.

We are not completely against immigration, there are obviously many benefits of it. But more control can't be a bad thing can it?

If we need more unskilled labour from Europe, we open the gates and let more people in. We need Nurses ? Oh we relax restrictions for qualified Nurses to get in and work. Doesn't this seem reasonable?

Sad that you feel less patriotic then those round you

How am I not patriotic? I haven't stated I'm not.

I am at times proud of the nations I belong to, be that France or Great Britain or Cyprus or the other nations I'm connected to by blood.

I just choose not to be over zealous about it. I feel more European than I feel British, what's wrong with that?

I don't hate the UK, I enjoy it here but I don't feel particular need to be "stand up and shouty" about being British all the time. I don't feel particularly drawn to being patriotic about France or the other nations either - it doesn't mean I don't care about being associated with those nations.

Staying in the EU, or leaving the EU will have no affect on immigration from outside the EU, which is where those Muslims come from.

Not anymore. All it takes is one EU nation to start handing out citizenship papers to the so-called refugees and they're 100% legally entitled to come to Britain.

BBBUZZZZZ wrong answer, once the EU nations start handing out passports like candy we can't stop them coming here unless we leave the EU

1 million in the EU right now, 4 million coming this year according to experts.

EDIT - Not to mention Cameron wants Turkey to join the EU, grreeeaaat idea

100% out, but I don't think the country as a whole will vote in this way due to the impending scare tactics from the 'remain' camp.

No one voted for this when we joined. Thankfully we didn't go the whole hog and join the euro as Labour would have loved us to back in the 2000's.

e2a: How the migrant 'crisis' is handled will be a huge factor in how people vote and we can see how that has turned out so far - disastrously. With millions more waiting to come due to Merkles suck it and see migration policy I am hopeful people might vote no. Turkey joining the EU is a disaster waiting to happen and I hope we are out long before that happens.

This is the problem, there's nothing wrong with controlled immigration, but we want immigration to serve the interests of our country, cherry pick the best and the brightest on our terms, not receive endless welfare parasites with no employable skills and a culture of rape, misogyny, violence and hatred of Western values simply because they hold qualifying EU papers. No thanks.

You're making the assumption that they're going to start handing out passports like candy.

John40 already best me to it, but it will be the most effective way to move people on from other countries because they know most *********** want to move to UK because we're too generous.
