Do you have a link with info about the ray tracing?

The Evil Within 1 uses the real time lighting FX (which was dropped by other devs due to how much load it puts on the GPU even a GTX1080 struggles at times @4K!! but it looks great when enabled proper realtime light FX). Carmack mentions somewhere the next game engine will use ray tracing (probably to generate the shadows. Most modern PC games use a basic form of ray tracing anyway as most of the gfx are generated on the fly which is why GPU is so important).

I hope they have changed things slightly from the first game. Whilst I enjoyed what I played of the first game, I was only able to last about 7 hours before I just became far too annoyed that my detective was unable to run (and not even particularly fast running) more than about 20 metres without then bending over unable to move. Hell, I am unfit as hell but even I am entirely capable of sprinting further than 20m without becoming incapacitated. I wish I had been able to continue and complete the game as the story was quite interesting but that annoyance and sheer frustration from it just grew and grew over the hours until I was so utterly sick of having the physical ability of a geriatric, weighed down with rocks, climbing mount everest, barefoot...that I couldnt bear it any longer and uninstalled.
One of the key gameplay mechanics though so you could not just run away all the time!!

Yeah, its a crutch in the game which is needed, otherwise the player would just outsmart the horrors, I can understand that. It just frustrates the hell out of me that I can run 20 metres and then am incapicitated. I may have to just accept that its a game mechanic choice which spoils the game for me. Pity tho.
Replay & upgrade carefully allows you to extend it a little though!

1 week to go system specs are up now...16GB Ram recommended. 40GB HD space is probably the base game as the first game came to 58.4GB after all season pass content was released.

Yeah looks like they removed Denuvo before release after the LOTR game was cracked fast but now legit buyers like me are still waiting for Steam to unlock yet 1000s who did not even buy the game are already ingame & slating it for poor optimisation even on GTX1070 or GTX1080!

Runs amazing for me @ 4K fully maxxed out with FXAA+TAA. GTX 1080 + Core i7-980X 12 core @ 3.46Ghz. 12 GB Ram on Win 7. I am locked to 60FPS all the time. Issue seems to be let the game frame pace do not try to set unlimited FPS & enable vsync!

Game is also glorious a fantastic mixture of Evil Within 1, Alan Wake, Resident Evil 4 +7, Silent Hill1+2 (PS1 era although 2 was on PC I still own the retail DVD copy BTW!) if you love old school survival horror I think you will love this game it plays like a mid 2000 Japanese survival horror with modern action instead of puzzle solving.

FPS issues are easily solved if you have vsync on & lock the game to 60FPS in the menu! Then it runs smooth as butter!! Let the game engine frame pace works best this is not really an unlocked FPS or Gsync title. Such a good game as well reminds me a lot of the old Silent Hill2-4 series on PC back in the early 2000s or the early Resident Evil games 1-3 (also on PC from late 1990s to early 2000s). Conserve resources its not an easy game either even on the lowest setting its a reasonable challenge at times. Some of the gfx are also top notch especially the lighting FX is very high quality & some of the hero characters have amazing facial details.

This game is epic so far only on Chapter 3 its a massive level with lots of hidden underground sections under buildings as well so much content to discover.

I'm also on Chapter 3. Are you guys following the missions or exploring the buildings and areas as you come across them? I find it hard to go past anything without having a nosey but I did discover a door that needs a crossbow to open it which I would have had if I'd of went straight to the indicator on the map rather than explore freely so now I'll need to go back for it. I always get torn between following the missions and veering off the track a bit with exploration in games...
Bit of both I cannot resist finding everything so taking my time I think the upgrades are very important so I am going to grind the lot until I am maxxed out. So many side distractions though every time I try to do a sub mission I end up somewhere else on the map which is a good thing I guess!

It's for sure a great game if you like old school survival horror with modern action. No real puzzles but some effective set pieces & creepy horror elements. The shader FX lighting is also stunning in game.

This game is such a genuine classic survival action horror experience. So much like the early 2000s classics. More Silent Hill 2 & Resident Evil 2 + 3 than anything else. Only up to Chapter 9 after well over 15 hours this has a lot of hidden content so I am taking my time on 1st playthru!
