The Evil Within 2 (Friday 13th October 2017!!!)

1st negative comments from me way too many cut scenes & not very interactive moments from end of chapter 11 to start of chapter 12 went on about 45 min's in all until I could manually save again! Still an epic survival action horror title though.

If the cutscene after the credits is anything to go by, it looks like there will be an Evil Within 3, which is good
Hope so as 2 is pretty good but sales are very low they have not even confirmed if the season pass DLC is still being made now yet due to low sales so its not looking good.

Just completed it. Overall its superb slightly better than the first game. If you want a very well made & mega budget survival action horror game made entirely by the Japanese gods @ Tango Gameworks (the entire game team for programming & gfx were japanese only some of the audio & motion capture was created outside Japan) then this is the best action survival horror in quite some time.

It takes all the best horror themes & gameplay elements from Silent Hill 2+3+4, Resident Evil 4+5+7, Alan Wake & even Quantum Break then blends them into a superb mega budget game. But it also has a few issues the biggest one is the number of non interactive cut scenes there are 2 large sections towards the end of the game where you just sit back & watch like the later Metal Gear Solid series. These go on way too long & they appear to have spent a lot of time & money on them. I just wish they made the base game larger as several chapters are tiny most of the game is only 5 maybe 6 large chapters all the others are tiny & you do not spend very long in them. Still its a lengthy experience around 15-20 hours on easy 1st playthru then time same again if you want all the collectibles & achievements for around 30-35 hours minimum.

Probably the last game of its type (action survival horror) as well as its been a massive financial failure unless digital sales are massive this is going to lose a lot of money for Bethesda they over spent on it there are well over 500 people listed in the end game credits! For the type of game & limited replay value that's a massive amount of money to spend on something which is not going to appeal to a lot of gamers due to the 1st game & being action survival horror with no puzzles in it.

I'm a huge fan of the first game so was really excited for this, but after reading up on the changes and different approach I was turned off a bit.

I don't think I'll enjoy this as much as the first but still may pick it up in the future.
I really wish they had kept the original formula and worked on refining it, instead of taking influences from other games in order to make it more accessible and appealing to the more casual crowd. That's my perception at least.
Still plenty of similar content from the first game I think you would like 2 as it is right now its a kind of grow on you type of game!

Good of them to patch but can honestly say the base game was very solid technically for me. PC appears to have sold around 144,000 copies on Steam so far which makes it the lead platform sales wise as both consoles sold poorly! Shame PC is not yet (if ever) getting the HDR patch PS4 Pro got though.

Is the silent hill game on steam worth a play?

Sorry for the thread derail but I guess this is the best place to ask as everyone seems to like old school survival horror like me.

Steam reviews are crap but I think it might be worth a shot?

Like has been said already in this thread, so few of these games now its sad.
Silent Hill Homecoming is well worth buying on Steam the poor reviews are mainly because some people did not have the ability to pass Dolby Digital sound as the game uses that to great effect creating atmospheric & creepy ambience with some deep bass! You really need a gamepad though its designed around that although kb + mouse is supported its hard work!

Yea it's pretty poor

Can anyone speak for optimisation of the 2nd game? Is it better?
Its excellent but you need a decent GPU above 1080P it requires a GTX1080 or stronger GPU for 4K. The gfx are subtle but the detail & high quality lighting FX really push things looks wise although screenshots & videos do not do the game any justice you have to see with your own eyes. This is not a game for low end GPU+CPU combos!
