The Evil Within

I am giving up for now this game has a lot of issues on PC its going to get slated & poor word of mouth later today when other regions unlock:

1: Sluggish camera.
2: Sluggish controls.
3: Terrible optimisation.
4: Laggy FPS cannot even hold 30FPS.
5: Forced 16:9 aspect ratio AFTER you use the command line to give fullscreen. Without that command line its 16:9 AND huge black pillowbox bars as well as black letterbox bars on a 21:9 monitor. This leaves you a tiny little play window.
6: No native 21:9 aspect ratio support its forced 16:9 until someone fixes this.
7: Crash on startup unless you enable steam community overlay on nvidia cards.

I cannot be bothered playing anymore its late & this game is seriously not in a good state on PC it needed more time QAing the controls alone are horrendous & those along with the camera are really poor.

A complete letdown so far it only seems like Resident Evil on PS1+2 with better gfx. No wonder this game is quite cheap I can see it getting a lot of negativity from the PC community over the next few days :(

Thanks for that! No matter what I do, I can't even open the silly dev console. Got the launch option set in Steam as well.

Although so far the game is sluggish as hell, and looks rubbish compared to Wolfenstein: TNO. Which ran amazingly maxed out at 3440x1440
Game right now is a buggy piece of junk I wish I never bought it the gfx look very dated Wolfenstein looked way better on the same engine

This has to be one of the worse unoptimised ports on PC in quite some time even for Bethesda its a new low

I have to agree on it all. It looks terrible, and that film grain is annoying. Never mind the tiny FOV. It's very off putting, and the performance?! Gah.

What a sick joke.

Film grain can be disabled there is an ingame menu for that.

I think 4Gb VRam minimum is about right it stutters a LOT & the ingame loading is also poor it looks/feels like a very unoptimised game its going to get slaughtered when its unlocked globally later today :(

I tried playing around with the different AA settings MSAA + SLAA cause huge stutters whilst its obviously fetching or clearing VRam caches.

For the dated gfx the requirements do not add up I wish I had bought something else I may even try to get a refund its that bad I cannot see it getting fixed much somehow it feels like it needs a lot more work not something which can be patched easily. It uses 10 of my cores instead of 12 the coding feels very weird for the average looking gfx this may well be GOTY worse port of the year contender

Its in a shocking state right now

The Evil PC Port Within ;)

yea ............ play something else for the next 2 weeks because it'll only annoy you, there is nothing worst than a buggy game because you're waiting for it to crash all the time.

i'm enjoying Sniper Elite Zombie Army, it's actually pretty good....quite atmospheric.

I've been stuck into Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition, and Endless legend.

I've do my first impression of this game and then probably never touch it again.

dunno but im finding the game gets better the longer you play it.... :D
chapter 3 now hahaha .....

though for the life of all things insane please fix the piller boxing, im looking through a window here @ 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor its like the black bars and huge and on every side of the screen wtf lol
and the fov is freaking crap aswell......

I hope flawless widescreen can fix these issues cause currently i feel as though im £34.99 + £14.99 = £49.99 robbed..

No idea why you paid so much for it lol, almost double what others paid.

I'm not sure the slating is entirely fair. The reviews surfacing today generally say it's a fantastic game, just poorly optimised on PC. Poorly optimised doesn't mean it's a bad game, just as usual we'll have to wait for a patch or two. I don't get the crashing on startup, but I agree the framerate / letterboxing issues are odd. I wouldn't write it off just because of those issues though.
