The Expanse

This is my second go round, i'll give it one more episode which will be the 4th but it's sent me to sleep twice already.

I like me some sci-fi, and I've wanted to like Foundation, got through 1 season, and it didn't improve in S2 (boring), I tried with Silo , same thing, weak stories dragged out over too many episodes. 3 body problem I enjoyed, Severance isn't half as clever as it thinks it is and is abit overrated but entertains, loving Fallout. Westworld, great S1 then destroyed it. I don't think I can recall anything more boring and drawn out than The Man In The High Castle, what an antidote to insomnia that was. :D

But Devs was better than all of them.

There's a few good shows but there's a hell of a lot of dreck.
Lot to unpick there:

The Expanse - excellent show. More political than pew pew, but there is some pew pew and when there is, it's amazing.
Foundation - never watched due to poor comments.
Silo - love it. Again, not much pew pew.
3 Body Problem - yup enjoyed this.
Westworld - 100% agree with your comments.
Severance - amazing, lovin' this show. One of my all time faves. Again not much pew pew.
Devs - enjoyed it, but a lot of style over substance. Could have gone much further.

Fallout - really? You rate this higher than some of the other shows you have mentioned? I think you self-analysed your issue with the other shows. You want instant gratification and have no time for story telling or world building; you like pew pew shows.

Personally think it worth watching for the good bits - the Empire stuff and the performances by Lee Pace, Terrence Mann, Laura Birn and Jared Harris are really good, sadly the rest is a bit mediocre. Book diehards might have problems with it but personally I think it as far as it goes conceptually it isn't a bad translation of the overall theme of the books, which would be impossible to directly do for TV media, though the execution in some areas is not great.

EDIT: Though if it wasn't for the performances by those mentioned actors it would have probably bombed hard.

Without a doubt, Empire by and large carries the entire show.

Speaking of Sci-Fi, I recently marathonned For All Mankind and became a touch addicted to the show. I kept putting it off because I wasn't 100% on the premise but decided to give it a shot, really enjoyed what I saw for the most part and I believe there's a fifth season due this year. I can see it being a bit marmite for some and it does have a bit of a slow start, but I'd recommend giving it a shot to anyone into the genre.

Exact opposite actually, I'm not a "pew pew" guy at all. I enjoy world-building very much, I can say that as widely read fantasy fan. I never watch action films, I yawn my way through action sequences even in really good films that aren't action orientated, it just doesn't interest me.

I much prefer story-telling I do not like explosions and crashes etc, I just haven't found that some of the shows mentioned have told an interesting story.

I'll give you a non Sci-Fi example, I'll watch Guinness in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy every time time over any Bond film. Also Dark City >>> Matrix.

Foundation is worth sticking with, S1 was weak, S2 a bit better, but it all comes together and kicks on at a good pace in S3.

Murderbot is good fun, short episodes.

Dark Matter and Constellation on ATV are both great and under the radar imo.

The Expanse has picked up, enjoyed EP 4 whereas the I didn't enjot the first 3 at all.
Is that the Donnager one? Oh it just gets better :p
I think every sci-fi fan collective **** the bed at how good they made this.
