The Expendables 2

Going to see this and Dark Knight Rises this weekend, might as well over the weekend, been trying to watch something for a while, all work, no play.

I was disappointed in the lack of Arnold in it, he hardly ever talked!!!!

Was he still like Terminator in the film as well?

Was a bit boring in parts.

I saw it on the request of a friend for their birthday. I really really really tried to suspend all brain function and rational thought, but I could not. I had to laugh a few times at just how stupid it was.

Silly things like them zipping down a line, (which makes you a pretty easy target) whilst holding an automatic with one hand!!!! and never missing.
A whole airport of civilians and spraying automatic fire. Three truck loads of people, I may be wrong, but I'm sure they were full of radioactive material too (not dangerous at all) yet somehow about 500 men emerge from them.

The only reason I cant give it 2/10 is because it wants to get 2/10. It's like it made itself so terrible to become good. Like me scoring it low is exactly what it wanted. Seriously if you want to enjoy this before you see it, hit yourself in the head with a hammer.

ive not seen it yet ....but have you seen teh origianl ?

Unfortunately yes. I was fully aware that it was going to nothing but mindless violence, I didn't personally like the first. Like I said I went as a friendship thing.
I did enjoy the explosion, and my god it was violent, like disgustingly violent.

Hahaha this film was genius, me and my friends were laughing so hard throughout it that several people looked around to see what we were up to, which was more often than not simply admiring Norris :D

10/10 from me!

Awesome here too!

As for the radioactive plutonium, you can handle it, its warm, and safe. Its only as a dust that it will kill you sharpish!

Maybe! I tried to like it. Like for instance it had it's funny parts, the cliche were good, but I just felt that the action shouldn't have been so comical.
It should have been grandiose etc but at least somewhat realistic, however this took a hollywood enemies inability to hit a barn door with a machine gun to the insane.
At one point a small wall was enough to stop a tank shell..... Come on.

lol , have you seen 80's action movies ? :p

Yes, I know what you mean but they're few and far between normally. As the awesomeness grew for me so did the stupidity and it cancelled out my enjoyment. It needed to be insanely awesome without being insanely stupid. I think it failed to do that not because they couldn't, but like I said they totally thought that by putting every single cliche of every single one of the movies into one film and a million tons of tnt, people would lap it up regardless of a decent story.
It appears to have worked.

I was laughing the whole way through, I couldn't stop. It was a strange feeling as I wasn't laughing with the film, I was laughing at it. What I can't work out is whether I had missed the point and that that is what they wanted me to do or it was a side effect of it being crap.

The only thing I wish this film had was a kills counter in the bottom corner, a la Hot Shots Part 2.

Great action film though. Makes me wonder whom we have right now as actors who could replace them down the line...

How Norris and later Arnie appeared to bail them out was completely random and had me confused.

I agree with this. Out of everyone in the cinema I was the only one laughing at how bad it was, as opposed to the actual "funny" bits.

The bit where Billy talks about the dog in Afghanistan had me in tears. So, so bad.

I enjoyed the first one as a bit of light hearted entertainment. I'll watch this one but it's not the sort of movie I'd go to see at the cinema.

I'd rate this a tad better than the first one. The opening sequence for this one was quite fun, but as the film progressed it kinda got a bit dull.

I don't think either film is particularly good, but I do appreciate the action and seeing all the big names cast together on the same screen. It's just for this one, you think you are going to be getting Arnie and Bruce kicking butt with Sly throughout most of the film after being teased so much in the first one, but in reality you only get a few brief action sequences with them. I think this is the main reason I feel a little disappointed and underwhelmed.:(
