The F1 2014 season

Wtf, double points, and how the hell are they going to do a 5second penalty, even a drive though is more than 5 seconds. Please dont say it'll be added after the race.

And agreed budget cap, but not, as they dont have a clue on how much.

Probably give the 5 second penalty during the race just like a drive-thru. Then the driver knows he has 5 seconds to make up.

Just read about the double points

Terrible and Tbh if that's the best a review team can up with its pretty disgusting

If your car is particularly suited to one race you get twice the reward?
If you have an accident no fault of your own you dnf two gps

The list goes on,.. I know why they have done it, but it really stinks of desperation and the factthat audiences are on the down

Mario kart is more fair than this

Got no problem with them doubling the points at the last race as long as double the distance. Or have some kind of super weekend running from Friday - Monday where run two races.

I preferred the idea mentioned before of having a practice session and qually on Friday and a ~one hour race on the Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone up for some groundless speculation on numbers?

Seb - 1 until someone takes it off him
Alonso - how about reviving the 27 on a Ferrari?
Lewis - 11, if he can't be no 1 he'll go one better and have 2 number ones
Jenson - he's he man to bring back red 5!
Kimi - 69, just because.
Webber - 13 and the number is instantly retired

Any more thoughts whether based in reality or otherwise?

Nah, they need a figure of eight, without the bridge :D

That should be the first race of 2014 and replace the drivers with all the guys from the FIA oh and dont hire the meidcal staff, stewards etc and ban seat belts and helmets.

Too far? I dont think so.

Given that my previous predictions have been complete guff this is probably more of the same but:

Lewis - 12 (Senna but would also suit Mercedes as Fangio's old number) or 22 (his championship winning number)

The Brits will be fighting over 5, Jenson therefore most likely

The queue for 27 is likely to be pretty long, not sure who I'd prefer to get it but I hope it's someone who's got a bit of soul.

Is anyone going to be willing to plump for 2? Somehow I doubt it...

And they want a cap deal in 2015 it should be done in 2014 imho
Agreed but it's too late for 2014.

The big problem with introducing it in 2015 is that it benefits those teams who get it right in 2014. If you get it wrong in 2014 how do you catch up if you can't spend?

True.

Lets do away with aero as that costs teams a lot.

How would double points change things in the season finale...

1953 - Fangio instead of Ascari
1956 - Moss instead of Fangio
1958 - Moss instead of Hawthorn
1970 - Ickx instead of Rindt
1979 - Villeneuve instead of Scheckter
1981 - Jones instead of Piquet
1984 - Prost instead of Lauda
2003 - Raikkonen instead of Schumacher
2008 - Massa instead of Hamilton
2012 - Alonso instead of Vettel
