The F1 2014 season

As soon as they, when they were Renault, ordered an emotionally-compromised driver to crash his car and promised him a contract that was never going to materialise, they were a joke team.

Fixed that for you ;)

Unless Honda have a changed of attitude I can't see Brawn going to work with them again.

But the other rumour is that if Merc slips up this season Lewis will go back to McLaren. Big ron is back and he wants his boy back as well :)

Could it not be said that Mercedes could slip up a fair bit and still be ahead of McLaren? :p Unless Ron sells McLaren as a team needing a Schumacher-esque driver to lead them out of the doldrums and offers Lewis undisputed Number 1 status would Lewis be interested in a move back to Woking?

No, Lewis has been there done that imo, can't see him going back.

Lewis will go where he thinks he can win a WDC. Don't forget his Mercedes contract was three years I believe?

Yes it was three years, could be interesting come the end of that period. If Brawn ends up at McLaren then by the end of Hamiltons contract both Dennis and Brawn should have influence over the car. Also there would be a year of Honda engines so should be able to assess them also. So personally, I think that should McLaren offer a better chance of Hamilton winning the WDC then he will go back. He said he moved to Mercedes as he wanted a new challenge but I can't see him staying there when he does not believe he has a chance of winning the WDC.

Lotus picks up a new sponsor: http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/01/20/uk-motor-racing-lotus-saxo-idUKBREA0J0LY20140120

Lotus announced on Monday that it has signed online Danish investment bank Saxo Bank as a new sponsor.

The bank is perhaps best known for its title sponsorships at the highest level of professional cycling, including the current Tinkoff-Saxo team.

“Saxo Bank is excited to have the opportunity to diversify its sporting partnerships, which now forge close ties to two of the world’s most popular sports,” co-CEOs and founders Kim Fournais and Lars Seier Christensen said in a statement.

Perhaps coincidentally, Danish driver Marco Sorensen is tipped to step up to test\reserve driver: http://www.inautonews.com/sorensen-set-to-follow-saxo-bank-to-lotus

Apparently they (Kobayashi and Ericsson) are bringing in >$20 million combined to the table. Not sure why Caterham are repeating last year's mistakes, they'd get $40 million by beating Marussia in the WCC. That requires someone who can outpace Bianchi, instead they're just auctioning the seats as usual.

The best pairing is the reserve who will get naff all track time. Love it :p
Yep. Probably just 30 mins on a friday morning. FP1 has been extended by 30 mins to allow teams to run their reserves.

Nice to see Kobayashi back but in that position he won't get much of a chance to use his ninja passing skillz.
