The F1 2014 season

I think the engines power units sound fantastic.

The V12's were buttery smooth and gorgeous, but these are great in their own way. Not better, just different.

Anybody think the McLaren and Mercedes are going to be hard to tell which is which on track in fast long range shots? From the limited info we've seen on the Mercedes so far, it looks like they'll be using the slightly darker grey/silver from last year plus the hints of greeny/blue for Petronas.

I'm assuming there will be rocket red shirts and hats too?

And yes DaveyD, unless the front of the Mercedes is considerably different to the McLaren its going to be hard to tell which is which from long shots.

Doesn't sound too bad :)

I can live with that, provided that at trackside it is loud enough to make your ears bleed :)

Can't wait to hear them at Jerez next week - should be there to catch practice from Wednesday onwards when, unfortunately, it looks like rain and I doubt many will run in the wet so early into testing.

I doubt those colours will be the ones used when it comes to the season. I expect the McLaren to have a little more red on it :)

It shouldn't be an issue. Teams aren't too concerned with setting cars up at the moment, more just ensuring reliability and finding an adaptable baseline setup to compare with the simulator, and the differences between wet and dry setups now are very little - a touch more wing is about all. Long gone are the days when teams used to send out cars with extremely soft springs and vastly more downforce in the wet... though perhaps with the turbos they'll return to having softer springs to give a more forgiving car in tricky conditions.

Either way, I'm sure there'll be plenty of cars running, if only to get miles under their belts with the new engines.

Just been chatting to my Uncle who is out there already and he's expecting a busy few days with a lot of stoppages.
