The F1 2014 season

hah, what do you do mate?

and it's Jenson ;) :D

bizarrely Im sure I spelt it Jenson possibly auto correct.

Set up the sound for a debrief and he walked in 1/4 of the way through and stood next to me, helps standing at the front in case there is a problem.....I did have a school girl moment though. He is shorter than I thought...

Cool, though I meant what's your job ? Take it you work at the MTC then?

Yup, MTC based, "Audio visual technician" is the title. sometimes very boring, sometimes really really interesting, like this morning. Looking forward to what they have in store this year!

"Mercedes’ F1 teams are expected to oppose Bernie Ecclestone’s plan to add two more double points races."

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2014/02/05/f1-fanatic-round-0502/

And the double points at the last race. About time

Is that because they have realised they have a better and more reliable engine initially and are worried that Renault may catch up by the end of the season?

Not saying that is a bad reason, i think the double points races are stupid.

In other news F1 has lost another 50 million viewers world wide, it's down to 450 mil. That's 100mil less then 2009 when Lewis won the WDC.

No wonder new backers with real money are hard to find.

"Up 1.7% to 29.1 million" the bbc got the most as normal. And China lost 29.8 million viewers opps

I'm not sure "Although the audience fell in the first year, it got a 1.7% boost in 2013 with 29.1 million viewers" says what you're suggesting it does.

I found the figures I was looking for here:

UK coverage was split for the first time between the BBC and pay-TV broadcaster BSkyB in 2012, which led to viewing figures falling by 3.8 million to 28.6 million.

So we're looking at a drop off of around 10% for 2013 compared to 2011 (pre Sky). I'm not sure "15 consecutive minutes" is a particularly good measure of viewership, anyway.

Viewing figures are gonna sky rocket this year though... with all the unreliability and unpredictable races. You'll see!!!

Nice info. Thanks.

I will keep that for later on this season :D

Don't confuse UK figures with global figures. The 100m drop is a global figure likely caused by perceived predictability in the results (i.e. Vettel). A similar thing happened when Schumacher dominated.

The Sky thing only affects the UK, and we are only a tiny percent of the global audience.

Ive now got Sky Now, so when there is an interesting late-footy kick off, or interesting games on the Sunday, I will pay £10 for the 24 hr pass, but thats too expensive just for a race imo (from what I have seen the Sports 1 day pass covers everything, but this could have course change/ or Ive mis-read something)
