The FA CUP Fifth Round ** Spoilers ** [14th - 16th February 2015]

Hodgson says it "wasn't a dive".

Phil Neville says it "would have snapped his leg" if he'd not have taken evasive action.

Good to see there's no impartiality on the Beeb then.

I'll have to watch the replay again but assuming he was sprinting, I'm not sure how he'd jump? Granted he didn't have to do a theatrical dive but then, as per my previous post, he'd be silly not to.
You lift your previously standing leg while you plant the other, as normal. Come on, look at the video! He just cocked his leg and crumbled. He didn't stumble or make any attempt not to fall over.

It is, but tell me the last time you saw offside given against a player who didn't touch the ball. The ref doesn't even blow any more until a player touches it.

I don't think it's correct, but it's how the rules are being applied. All I'm saying is that this was not a refereeing mistake but deliberate coherence with recent refereeing.

nemtizz just gave you an example and that was a lot harsher than giving Rooney offside.

I believe the guidelines are that the player either has to block the keeper's view, plays or attempts to play the ball. The rule's messed up.

If the ball is going directly past a player in an offside position then they have to be flagged off. I don't think even the most hardened Utd fan would argue that Rooney's not interfered with play there.

LVG - "reasonably satisfied" with the first half performance.

Errr that's a little concerning, I thought the first half was dire.

I'm agreeing with you. All I'm saying is that the way the rule has been used recently is that it's become incredibly ambiguous, and it's far from the first time this sort of goal has been allowed. It's not right and shouldn't happen, but it's the case.

People were saying that last time, and we beat them at the Emirates.

I'm not saying we definitely will, but we've got a good chance.

****ing hope so.

A dream scenario after last season would be some silverware and top 4 finish.

Nightmare, we get KO'd by 'pool and finish 5th!
