No idea why we didn't swap Carrick for Blind and get Mata on for Fellaini.

Because Arsenal would have ripped you to shreds on the counter and scored another couple. It's one thing having a go, but you can't just throw caution to the wind when there's only the one goal between the teams.

In my opinion there are 3 issues surrounding Man Utd at the moment:
  • A lack of squad quality, especially in defence (obviously).
  • Players playing in the wrong roles.
  • Too many attacking players on the pitch at any given time.

That last point was not true yesterday in terms of the midfield, but stands for most of their season.

It's not that teams aren't scared of Man Utd any more (they aren't though), but that they can just waltz through their midfield. You can have a defensively-minded player sitting in front of the centre backs, but if the full backs are so far up the pitch and the other midfielders are all attack-minded you're going to concede goals. Fellaini wants to get forward. Herrera wants to get forward. Di Maria wants to get forward. Young wants to get forward. One decent ball through the middle and it's panic stations.

Do you really want to give this man a load more cash in the summer? Every single one of your players except the keeper has gone backwards. Devaluing the players that actually were class or full of promise have got worse. Why would any top class player join United now with that style of play? Especially the best attacking players in the world, which is what every club hungers for. Not to mention if fourth doesn't happen holding on to anyone half decent will be tough.

This man is clearly not the manager to take united forward, especially in the style we are always told is the 'man united way'. He actually has you playing like Everton three or four years ago but with the most expensive team assembled. That the last guy was terrible shouldn't have you tolerating this ****.

If they don't get top 4 it will be one of the biggest failures ever after what they spent considering they're not going to win anything now either.
:

To be fair 60m+ of that spend has been invisible for most of the season, with that amount not working its not surprising really (any improvement at all is a minor miracle

should've kept moyes, eh

Of course not but that's got nothing to do with if the new guy is good enough. Just because one is slightly less of a buffoon isn't a reason to hang on to him. His football is dire, the results are slightly better but I think they are actually worse to watch this year and that's saying something.

Injuries isn't a decent excuse, years ago he had the same injury problems but was able to motivate and gel a unit. He's not capable of that in the EPL clearly. He says ADM needs to adapt, but no one needs to adapt more than LVG. It's like watching the football of one of the dinosaur managers that get relegated and come back up again, except he's doing it with the biggest budget in the league.

I think people are deluding themselves if they think there are signs of improvement with him this year. His tactics and substitutions are about as good as Martinez's. He's a dinosaur, line up someone else for next year or it will cost £300m to put right his mistakes. They don't have to tolerate a Martinez like we have to, go employ someone more relevant. One thing for sure it confirms to me just how Fergie is the best manager I will ever see domestically. It doesn't matter his last few years were not the greatest, he stayed consistent and relevant when others are well past their sell by date.

to an extent i agree, his subs yesterday completely screwed us and made absolutely no sense considering it was a fairly even game.

I'm going to see what happens over the next few weeks before I totally lose patience with him. That's not to say I'm not already losing some faith in him, but imo he's a step forward from Moyes, maybe not a big enough step but we shall see.

I think that Utd definitely look a better team under Van Gaal than under Moyes however they still have some way to go if they're to realistically challenge for silverwear.

A minor miracle? **** me if Moyes had played this football, spent all that money and not have Europe + about four cup games all season it would not be referred to as a minor miracle, would probably feel like a miracle to other fans

What's the logic behind having Rooney taking set piece crosses into the box when he's the only striker/natural goalscorer on the pitch?

Really?

I honestly think this is the worst Man United team I've ever seen. The football is mind numbingly dull, **** and utterly ineffective. It's like watching a bunch of 40 year olds playing 5 a side on a Wednesday night, lads who lost their legs but still fancy a kick about. It is so, so poor.

Ahh im going to say is that you are a cowardly and fickle bunch. How quickly you change your tune after a loss or two and then pretend you've been saying we've looked awful for years.

But when i have been continually pointing this out you all rounded on me for being negative and questioning if i was a fan. Poor form.
