The FA CUP Third Round - 5/6/7 January *** Spoilers ***

It's tough for you to keep on top of a lot of things I'd imagine.

I hope you (and a few others) listened to Gordon Strachan just then - summed up the handball situation very well.

For the ones of us watching The Wire, can you repeat what Strachan just said mate?

Word for word? No but basically, it wasn't intentional, had it been roles reversed and the ball rebounded onto a defenders arm then we'd be saying there wasn't anything he could do and it wasn't cheating. He also said that if anybody has ever parked on double yellow lines, they wouldn't phone up the council to tell them that they owe them £85 so Suarez isn't going to tell the ref the ball hit his hand.

I dislike Suarez as much as the next guy but I don't think it was intentional and he always does that daft hand celebration, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

it's ok! gordon strachan says it wasn't intentional, so that's that.

See this is your problem, instead of coming up with something interesting to post when you disagree, you just resort to snidey childish comments.

I'm not sure about Strachan's point, if a defender did that against United I'd definitely want a penalty for it. The double yellow lines comment doesn't really make sense either because you'd have parked there deliberately in the first place. I'd be interested to hear the referee's take on it and whether he saw it or not.

To hopefully completely change the subject, a general opinion on the two WHU goals.

I totally accept they were badly defended, and well crossed and headed in - but imo its a little concerning DDG didnt react at all to either of them (apart from moving his head to watch both times).

The fact that both crosses/headers went into the far corner of the net makes them difficult /impossible to actually stop .......but shouldnt DDG actually try (even if it is futile due to the area of the goal mouth the ball is heading for)

Would love to hear Schmichel/VDS's take on both goals (even though I suppose with hindsight its impossible to be completely impartial)

(nothing to do with the Sunday Mirrors article, as if anything its only Lindegaard who is under threat and not DDG)

Everyone makes a jibe every now and then, thats part of being a football fan, certain people (or person) have obsessions and just fill their posts with absolute trash every single time.

A jibe is one thing and between rival fans , its understandable. Personal attacks have a limit though.

Just replying in general to you, the comment above isnt aimed at you in the slightest.

Anyway my original post on the subject has been dealt with :)

Seriously

He literally had no chance at all, but you are concerned that he didn't just flap his hands in the vague direction as an indication he hasn't lost his sight?

As I said after the game, defenders have to help the keeper actually have chance to make a save. Giving someone a free header in the middle of the goal from a good cross does not give your keeper a chance unless the attacker makes a mess of it under no pressure.

The comment about it being a defender was referring to whether he cheated/whether it was intentional, not whether a free-kick should have been given. And the double yellow lines was a separate point in response to whether he should have owned up.

According to Rodgers, the 4th official told him straight after the incident that the ref knew it hit his hand but deemed it unintentional.

Surely trying to save it is better than just standing there watching?

There was absolutely no way he could have saved it, it was impossible. A reaction would have been totally pointless. If anything, you're better off staying on your feet so you're in a better position to grab the ball if it hits the post, for example.

If people are actually criticising him for this then well, I'm lost for words...

Think it's pretty clear it wasn't intentional, the only part of his normal celebration he does is the 'kiss', hell you can see he kicks the ball into the net in disgust thinking he has blown the chance.

Frank has been reading RedCafe I suspect, it was a few posters main worry there too...

I never go there actually

So whats the difference with outfield players chasing a lost cause in a pass that is struck too strongly, you rarely see players just giving up straight away

.

wingers/ wingbacks chase lost causes all the time (Smalling did it several times on the right on Saturday) - According to evveryone here I guess he shouldnt have bothered.....

No he shouldn't. Chasing a ball you have no chance of reaching is just a waste of energy (unless of course there's a chance you can make the other player rush their pass/shot and have a chance at forcing a mistake)
