The Fashion Thread... personal tastes, musings, and recommendations

TK Maxx is clothes shopping heaven. There are so many awesome bargains to be had, you just have to be patient/have a couple of hours to spare to rummage. All my best jeans come from the Maxx as there are so many different styles it's hard not to find something that fits well.

Never tried merino wool jumpers, so I'll have a look in there today.

Not a fan. Most of their stuff is QA rejects.

This is what Topman recommend as their "latest trend". Are you suggesting that we deviate from this?

All far too metrosexual for me. Just wear what is cheap and looks reasonable. Too many fools pay through the nose for sweatshop produced footwear and clothing just because it has a certain brand name. Seems rather sad to me. Id rather spend my money on nice food or new hardware.

There are a lot of instances of paying for a brand name on a product, but there are equally as many (if not more) items that cost a bit of money but are well worth it. the OP isn't wrong in that respect.
Buying cheap generally means the item looks cheap rather than reasonable, but then 'reasonable' is relative to the purchaser/wearer.

How about a "Catwalk" picture thread.
Basically your best wardrobe items put together, full body shot taken and uploaded.

OCUK Fashion awards afterwards?

Mmmm I don't think you get what the preppy look is.

Have a scroll down the pics, blazers, cardigans, v-neck jumpers, all classic, smart, neat and professional ;)
Those do not represent the look I was referring to, or at least they represent the most 'preppy' look of what I was referring to. I agree that the clothes you have shown there are preppy.

The look I am referring to is much less 'public school boy' and a lot less 'school boy' in general. I'm sure it uses the same brands, but a lot more subtly.

a lot of stuff I get from EMP (no idea what labels things are and I couldnt give a monkeys). Jeans I get from wherever fit and shoes I get whatever is comfy and looks ok. Oh and the price matters, screw paying £30 on a t-shirt with some plebs name on it.

Just who are topman trying to target with that look? Surely thats not a mass highstreet expectation of what they expect people to wear!
In the context of that picture, this thread was needed a long time ago!

Also wtf is going on with his hair, looks like straw and is a horrific cut!

Presumably it isn't what they expect people to wear, but it is promoted as their latest trend under the label of "Contemporary Punk". So I suppose it's aimed at the coolest, most stylish men out there.
